Specializes in My goal is to be an Oncology Nurse.....

HOwdy,

I was just accepted into my schools ADN program last Monday to begin this Fall.. Yea Me:D and I was wondering where I could find a good Student Nursing kit? I am looking for a good stethescope, BP cuff, gauze sciccors(sp) and pen light.

Thanks So Much......:nurse:

Your NS may be an exception, but most NS will require you to pay a fee (75-150) for your nursing kit. It will contain the tools you will need as well as practice sets for use in lab practice.

I would wait till you start NS before buying anything (you school may publish a list of items that you need for class). Most NS are highly organized and know what has to be done and when it has to be done. If your school is not as organized or they do not have a kit, they may have recommendations or may enable the class to order as a group (cutting the cost of each kit). Congratulations on starting NS...:yeah:

our school requires that we purchase those things ourselves.

i have used this website:

Allheart has the best prices I have found so far on stethescopes...hands down.

But I never purchased the "kits"...I purchased the products one at a time that worked for me.

Thank You for the AWESOME advice.....:anpom:

I ordered this (http://www.allheart.com/pma5.html) and planned on buying a different stethoscope later on when I figured out what I really wanted but I ended up really really liking this kit. So far, it has everything I need and works very well. I ordered the purple one ;)

I would also suggest waiting to see what you need, or ask a current student, if possible. I would also buy the items separately.

For our program, we are required to have scrubs, in a particular color, of course. The ones at the school are very poorly made and outrageously priced so I'm ordering mine from Allhearts.com.

We have to have a penlight with the pupil sizes, a lab coat (which I'm told never gets used), and a "nursing kit". This nursing kit does NOT contain things like stethoscopes or BP cuffs. It has things like IV kits, and a lot of other crap that I just glanced at. Its a huge bag and its around $90. I am guessing its lab stuff.

I just ordered a Littman Classic II SE scope. I asked around and this is what everyone recommended. Or the Master Classic but I can't afford that one!

Good luck!
