timing of criminal background check

I came from Pennsylvania and am working on a temporary NC nursing license, as I applied for endorsement. I submitted my criminal background check and the fingerprints had to be repeated. How long does the criminal background check take? Will the state board issue my permanant license if all documents are received and they are just waiting for the background to come back?

They said it can take up to 6weeks.

They do say up to 6 weeks, but the sheriff's dept told me that is to keep you from calling or thinking something is wrong. My first set were 'illegible' and was notified 5 days later. After 2nd set taken, I was notified in 7 days that I was cleared.
