I graduated in the beginning of May, 2008 and took the NCLEX July 1st. I gave myself two weeks off after graduation to relax before studying for nclex. I took Kaplan and thought it was great, in my opinion kaplan was more difficult than the actual nclex! I wish I took the nclex a week or two earlier, because by the end I started to get so burnt out and tired of sitting on the computer doing questions all day long.
I didn't start working until August as our professors advised us not to start working until we passed the NCLEX and I'm so glad I took their advice. I think it must be difficult to study for the nclex and start a new job!
Good luck in school!
Major nursing glut in my area, so it took a little bit to get a job.
I graduated on May 17, 2008
Took my boards on July 8, 2008 & found out I passed on July 10th.
Accepted a job offer on August 26th & started on September 4th.
I would have liked to start working earlier, but in the long run it was better for me to have the summer off for personal/family reasons.
I graduated August 9. I'd already applied for several jobs, but no one was really doing interviews until August for their fall new grad classes. I interviewed August 11 for my first choice job, and was hired on about the 18th. The only negative is that it doesn't start until October, so I'm twiddling my thumbs, spending too much time on this website, and making myself study for NCLEX. I started looking for work in about April, because I didn't want to miss out, but they were still in the process of hiring the May grads.

Hello first-year nurses!
I am starting my accelerated program in May 2009. I'm just curious about when you graduated, how soon did you start working, when do you take the NCLEX, etc?
Thanks!
