Time spent studying and other stuff.

I will be starting nursing school in September.:nurse: I'm pretty excited! I have just graduated high school. During school I will not be working at all. I will be commuting about 30 minutes a day on average (some days a little more, some days less).

I was wondering how much time did you spend studying each day? Also, did you spend ALL your time studying, or did you have time to do other things, such as go out with friends, exercise, etc. Exercise is particularly important to me, and I'm kind of worried that I won't have time for it anymore  I don't expect to work out everyday obviously, but maybe like 4 times a week during non- exam times.

Also, since I'm only 19, I do want want to have time for at least a little bit of fun.

I'll say I spent MOST of my time studying...or at least it felt like it. Of course, you can do other things like hanging out with friends, you just have to find that balance. Once you start school you will get into your own rhythm. Exercise will be a great way to de-stress! You can always bring your notes with you to the gym as well for some intra-work-out entertainment :)

Good Luck on your journey!

I've found the gym was the great place for the "I don't have 90 minutes to re-listen to lecture" time. :)

You can definitely make the gym work. I used to take my powerpoints and read through them while on the treadmill or stationary bike. An hour would fly by and I would always feel less stressed because I got to exercise and study. As for hanging out with friends, like a PP said, you have to find a balance. There will be some weeks that there is just too much to do. But other weeks will have a lighter workload and you can fit a day or night in. I don't work, but I have 2 young kids. I fit about 3 Sundays a month in as pure family days and was always able to be part of dinner and night time routine stuff, then bed snuggles. I just used my planner to manage my time. I enter all the at school/clinical time, then write in personal stuff in, then add study time. If I stuck to my schedule, I had time left over to spend with family. This, for you would be the time to habf with friends. But PLEASE, if your grades start to slip, understand you will have to nix a little bit more of your personal time to focus on school or you will become one of the people who post about why they don't understand why they are failing. GL and congrats

Plan your days. And if you have studying planned for 4pm-7pm then make THAT the priority for that time frame. Then if you workout from 8pm-10pm then leave the studying alone and make your workout the priority.

I think students try to multi task or don't really prioritize.

I worked out from 3pm-5pm and studied from 930pm-1am after my son went to sleep.

You can make it happen even with a job because I worked part time in the mornings and most of my weekend. Most of my weeknights were studying and weekend was for work, workout, or other free time.

It's do-able.
