Time Management in school.

I feel your pain, I'm moving in with my father and my 2 year old! I haven't lived at home since I was 18, and that was 19 years ago.

Do you have alot of expenses? I would try going to school full-time and working part-time if you are lliving with your parents.

Hello everyone, how do you all work full time and go to school full time? I have done this for this semester and my grades could have been better. I walk around with no sleep most of the time and I'm so burned out. I am considering going part time because I have grant money for school and am living with my parents since I'm newly divorced. My kids are with their father finishing school and they plan to go to school there so that will not be something I have to worry about. But I'm just in the pre-req stage and when nursing school starts in Fall of 2007, I've got to be able to keep these grades better. Any advice? I work as a CNA on a second shift at a nursing home and that work is so busy I can't study at work, I hardly get a break to eat much less study. Please tell me how some of you handle this. Stressed in SC!!

My best advice to you would be schedule! Ok you work full time those days will be out you probably can't count on work days to study. So now you go to school certain days besure to work in study times on your days off/school days.

I don't work outside the home but I have 3 kids and my husband travels full time so I am the 24/7 mom and dad. My kids are in school though so I schedule my classes and study time around them. My husband comes home on the weekends and pulls duty for me. I schedule all my study time so I know what I need to do each week and exactly what time I am going to do that, I try to leave a little wiggle room for unexpected things but seriously I try to stick with my routine. I go to school 4 days a week I have 2 days I devote to my two classes for the 6 hours kids are in school and I have a few things I do at night. I try and put the books away at 3pm when kids get home but I take them out again at 7pm when dinner and homework is done. I also keep study things all over the house, this drives my husband crazy but I need to have things around I can be doing when I find a free moment, like making flash cards is my big thing. I also get up very early in the morning this works for me I do really well at 5am and usually can get a boat load of work done its quiet and I am usually reved up and ready at that time. Don't ask me to do much after 9pm though I am defininetely a morning person.

I worry about child care all the time too I have 7, 7 and 9 yr old. so far I have worked around their school but once nursing starts I don't get to pick my schedule and they have some funky hours with a long commute, I try not to think about it too much its a year away, I know I will be able to work something out in the long run I am taking it one step at a time.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the positive things you've said. I have applied for a weekend Baylor shift at a local nursing home and hopefully I'll know something before I have to schedule school for Spring semester. That way I can get the rest of the pre-reqs out of the way, I start the nursing program Fall of 2007. The problem I had was the nh I was employed refused to work with my school schedule and all I asked was to be off two days during the week but they always had me off on days that I to take my mother or father to the doctor or something else and trying to study in the car between school and work was impossible so I quit. My kids are high school seniors this year with their dad, twins, so they are understanding about working the weekend only. This job is for 12 hours on Sat/Sun, no Fri, and you get paid the extra 8 hours you don't work. Now keep your fingers cross and pray that I'll get it. It's good pay also. That way I can concentrate on school during the week and work weekends only two days a week and if I want an extra day, I can pick up one of those, no classes on Friday right now so maybe things will work out.
