I would invest in a HESI practice book in order to study, get plenty of rest, and lots of caffeine before you go. The length of it is daunting, don't spend too much time on questions you're trying to figure out. Instead answer all that you know and then go back to work on the ones you had trouble with. It's easy to run out of time!
Yeah, I hadn't took chemistry before taking the HESI either other than in high school however many years ago and that was an area where I scored lowest in. I just completed health science chemistry to work towards my bachelor's and I wish I would have taken it before taking the HESI but you're right, you're not required to. I was totally nervous the first time around since I didn't know what to expect, the second time wasn't too bad since I was prepared. I would have to say that the overall test is fairly difficult, it is a lot of material to be tested on at one time. If you apply yourself, you should do fine even without chemistry.
I'm not so sure you would like to take that test but once a year if you had to, it is that dreadfully long. No worries you will do fine as long as you know general knowledge of the basic subjects. They say the minimum you can get on it is a 45 to be considered but you obviously wouldn't be competitive with that score.

Hey everyone! I'm turning in my application this July for the spring 2017 start! I'm so excited! However I will have one class in progress (microbiology) and was wondering if anyone knows if this will hurt my chances of getting accepted. I'm going to take my HESI mid June so I don't have that score yet! Any help or advice is appreciated!
