Hi everybody. This forum is for friendly discussion for those who are applying to Tidewater community college's nursing program for fall 2021. Good luck!

Hi, I have a feeling that the HESI score will stay in the 80-81.9 range.

I sure hope so! I don't want to take it again. I will if not accepted for fall. I feel like I would at least do better on the Chemistry next time. That was my lowest score on the HESI.

Yeah me too! More of I can't take it again LOL I can only retake it next year in September. For 3 years, the 45th percentile remained in the 80-81.9 range. One of my nurse friends told me that if we are in the 45th percentile, that's all they are gonna look at. Our scores for each section doesn't really matter if that makes sense. As long as we have all pre-req and co-req classes, we should be good for the next cycle. I have 84.89 and anxiously hoping what I said is true for the next cycle because my score is VERY close LOL I wish I had 89 on HESI!

RachelPk- my denial letter for Spring said that my ENG 111 pre-req wasn't met/received/transferrable. I took ENG 111 at ODU...who did you call to verify when you were having to question your HS transcript?

How does ENG111 from ODU not transferable ?? I would call Alicia Wilson and ask. Her phone number is on TCC nursing and check eligibility on vccs transfer credit evaluation system.

I just checked and I think ENG 111 is transferred as ENG112 at TCC and ENG110 is transferred as ENG 111 at TCC...

Hello, do you guys know what the process is for reapplying?
I read they keep the application for two consecutive admission periods, but we have to send a letter in prior to application deadline requesting our application be considered?

I think I’ve heard that too. I would ask ------------------------- to double check.

Im applying for my third time ? my second time I wrote basically a letter of intent. If you look online you can search nursing program letters of intent and get a rough idea of what they should look like.

My decision letter didn't seem to say that there was anything wrong with my letter just that I should finish my co reqs to make my application more competitive.

Also, Rachel I'm dumb I just realized the next nursing session is zoom LOL

Im sorry! This would be my second time. Mine was because of my HESI ?. I’m right on the cutoff. So I’m not trying to get my hopes up but still going for it LOL. Hopefully you get in next time though! Oh okay, I will look into that. Do you send the letter to ---------------------?

I should ask ---------------------------- if I need to send one as well. Yeah it’s online but we still need to RSVP.

I think finishing co-reqs is the key to get into the program.

Diana- if you don’t mind telling me, what was your HESI score?

I have all my pre reqs done almost a 3.8 GPA but that HESI has a lot of weight on the decision. I got a 80.67 ? so I’m barely there. That’s without including the critical thinking part. I’m not sure if that’s included or not. It sucks we can’t retake the test until after a year!
