today i went to re take my kaplan test. i had to re do the math and i got a 50, i need a 55%! UGH! the thing that got me was the questions that had to do with a clinical setting and they were talking about the flow rates of medicine, im not use to working with problems like that or seeing things like that since it isnt everyday math but i think i could have done it if it was worded a little better thoes long word problems get me sometimes. WHat helped you guys get throught thoes word problems on your kaplan?
anzean_rn 32 Posts Specializes in NICU. May 23, 2011 There must be practice books that Kaplan has out there with these types of problems in it. The only way you will get better is to keep studying and doing these types of questions. There is no magic solution unfortunately.
meghan91 147 Posts May 23, 2011 i actually do have the kaplan book but there arent any questions in the book like the ones i have been getting on the test which is so annoying, thats why i bought the book so i could have an idea of the problems which it did help me some but not with the word problems...Also, do u guys think i should wait and study more and re take it on the next test date? or should i go back today at 4pm and take it? ( i just wana see what most people would do)

I'd be willing to bet it doesn't use anything different than adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, probably mostly multiplying and dividing if it's a lot of flow rates. The hard part is figuring out what you need to do when.
meghan91 147 Posts May 24, 2011 ya your probably right...chances are im just reading into the question too much and thinking theres more work to do than i actually need to do im just gana go over it some more....i feel so dumb though not being able to pass this stupid math section and its th only thing holding me back i feel like im the only one that doesnt not pass ugh
