NJ22 glad she was reelected

Ado I have frequent issues with our software too

Tweety that would be annoying

Having to use my phone, for some reason I can't post with the Chromebook

Work was good, no cutting lunch short or leaving late.  Hoping for the same today

After work was productive, got the laundry done as well as the grocery shopping and stopped by the library

Today will have counseling over lunch, then will outreach CarMax about some cars I am interested in

Bit warmer today, in the mid 50s

We're supposed to be in the low 80's today, with possible rain tomorrow and Saturday, and on Saturday the forecast shows the temp HIGH will be 50 degrees! YIKES!

I have GOT to go out to the pharmacy for refills and have to also get a book of stamps. I might take Nannie with me and leave Momo ? "Home Alone!" Nannie can stay locked in the car with the AC on, as neither errand should take a long time. I'll call the pharmacy and make sure they have all the refills ready to go.

I wish you could see Momo take her little baby-blanket and turn in a few circles to end up with it covering her behind and her nose under the cover ... but those ears are out,  perked up and sticking up. Too cute!

Having my coffee and trying my best at waking up now.

Hi. In the 50s here, and starting to rain. I got a nice run done this morning, then took the dogs for a nice long walk. There was a package on my front porch this morning, and because I was expecting one, I thought it was mine. So I brought it in, opened it up, and realized it wasn't mine. And then I looked at the name. It was our neighbors'. Dh had apparently seen it, and instead of walking it next door, he left it for me, because he wasn't sure where to take it, I guess. Anyway, I taped it shut and left it on their porch. My package was in the mailbox. I got hoodies for the dogs. And they look so cute.

dh went to his PCP today, who is a ARNP that I worked with as a nurse several years ago. She gave him a steroid inhaler and a course of antibiotics for his persistent cough.

I don't miss computer data bases at all! I used to have to input data into the state health department and it was so clunky! And online meetings on 3 different platforms, and so many passwords!

Meds at pharmacy won't be ready for pick-up until tomorrow. Went briefly to grocery store for a few odds and ends that I forgot to get on my previous outing. Nannie was conked out, mouth open, and snoring, so I left her and Momo both at home. She was still asleep when I got back.

Two and a half hours until Nannie's bedtime.? You know how "one day at a time" is always mentioned? This evening is one-half hour at a time.?tick-tick-tick-TOCK!

About 50 degrees today with a little rain. I stayed home with my cold. We had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. I feel like I really must go to work tomorrow but oh my head is so groggy and full.

Hubs and I must put some effort I to this Medicare thing. We are doing open enrollment for benefits and we will save a lot if I drop him. But I don't know how much a Medicare supplement plan is.

It's unseasonably warm here, in the mid 30s. I couldn't see all of the orb of the sun over the ridge to the south of me today.  That means it's only days until I'll have to go south towards Fairbanks to actually see the sun.  I'm not sure that we'll get to Colorado this Winter, I'll miss that exposure to the sun if we don't.

There aren't any supplemental Medicare plans available in Alaska.  That's a good reason for us to move back south, in my opinion.

G'day.

Air conditioner is on but it's nice outside.  We're having our springtime weather in the low 80's.

The big news around here is the hospital across the street from where I work lost a 250 million dollar high profile lawsuit.     https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2023/11/09/all-childrens-st-petersburg-maya-netflix-damages/

We processed a lot of discharges and admits today.  Naturally my addition came at shift change and was a train wreck with a train wreck of a wife.

I'm glad to have deferred medicare.  I have a low cost-high deductible plan and have all deductibles in my HSA waiting if needed.  I don't want to change until I actually do retire.

I'm sure between paying for medicare and paying for a supplement it will cost more than I pay now.

Off tomorrow.

Have a great day.

I had read a little bit about that case. There are differences of opinion among medical professionals when it comes to complex cases. I can see where it would set off alarm bells if a parent insisted on high doses of ketamine to treat a child. Assuming the family's stories are reliable, I can understand why they would want the treatment they had found that worked.

I understand why the hospital didn't want to settle but putting a "nice family" with a tragic story in front of a jury (most likely comprised of nonmedical people) is risky.

Yep there are two sides to every story and by some accounts people that met the mother thought she had obvious mental illness problems.  But they should have settled rather than be so confident in their actions.

We are taking care of a patient with this disease and it's dreadful.  We can't move her without her crying in pain.  Her father wanted ketamine treatment as well and we don't offer that and tried several hospitals and they all said no.
