Hello all!
I didn't sleep well yesterday, so slept in. Then after lunch dh and I drove up to Big Bear Lake. We enjoyed seeing the scenery as we drove, and once we arrived, we walked around the little zoo. Then ate an early supper at the Himalayan restaurant: Indian and Nepal Cuisine! It was, as always, delicious! Then we drove home a different way than we'd come, one with lots of road "twisties," so dh could check out the new Little Car. He says it handles as well as the Mini Cooper used to, and was pleased!
Not much is planned today. I may make a crustless quiche for a friend (she cares for her quadriplegic husband).
Dh is sleeping in this morning. I was up at 7:45 (unusual for me, dunno why I woke up!).
I hope you all have a good day!
Good Morning~
I didn't post yesterday---I was exhausted and feeling like I didn't want to do anything, but I was busy, nonetheless, you know, doing a large load of laundry because Nannie's bed was saturated, and emptying all the wastebaskets, dishes, etc. Had to jump up and help Nannie get out of and into her recliner more than a few times.
She's been on AZO for two days; have yet to see orange/red pee. She says, "I have to go to the bathroom." so I get her in there and on the toilet. After she was through and we were about to return to the den, when she said, "I feel like I have to go to the bathroom." So, back onto the toilet; this time she pooped. She seems more disconnected from her body, and doesn't know what she has to do and what she has already done. But she still eats like a horse! And I have so far been able to get her to drink all the water she has to take; pill (azo) directions say to take them with full glass of water.
Today is the day that the newbie caregiver is supposed to be here; I will have to orient her. Mostly today I just want her to sit in the den with Nannie, even if Nannie is of a mind to do a long afternoon nap. I plan on tackling something up in my room---whatever it might be. I may get Nannie up before she gets here, I don't know yet.
More later-----
So much rain! And then the clouds parted and the sun is shining. I made a quick trip to youngest ds's workplace with his spare car keys. Following in the footsteps of his mama, he locked his keys in his car.
I met with some of my fellow master gardeners to talk about creating a newsletter, got a massage and now dh and I are fixing to go out and get a burger or something. I may have a celebratory drink.
I've got some scrapes on my car, but it's likely the last car I'll ever get, so I live with them. I did buy some new wheel covers to replace the 2 I lost. They are primarily plastic and still cost $60 each, used.
Good evening.
J22, send rain this way please.
Stars, at least she pooped. What is azo?
The secretary that called off 10 minutes into her shift complained to management that I wasn't supportive of her concerns when I made her assignment to be a tech. She told management she told me she wasn't comfortable, which is a lie. Still, I said in huddle "this is her first day on her own as a tech, please look after her...". How much support did she want? A red carpet? Turns out even though she trained as a tech for four weeks, she's not supposed to work as a tech on the floor. The manager apologized for not making this clear. Who knew she trained four weeks as a tech to not be a tech.
Sorry. Needed to rant.
Ugh. What a confusing stew of words, Tweety. I looked up Azo: "AZO® Urinary Pain Relief is specially formulated with Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride, the #1 ingredient prescribed by doctors for urinary discomfort."
I just made a crustless spinach quiche (and I added some sauteed mushrooms to it), it's baking in the oven now. Tomorrow I need to go to the grocery store for a few things. I keep running out of favorite salad stuff. Tonight we need to finish the Himalayan food leftovers.
Enjoy your burger and drink, nursej22!
No Stars, did the newbie caregiver arrive today, and get her orientation?
Not much else going on here. Have a good evening!
Sorry about that experience, Tweety. Geesh. How were you supposed to know that?
Stars, I'm glad to see the verdict, too, though I don't know how much difference it will make. I dread this upcoming election.
I made a cheeseburger casserole from the Pioneer Woman tonight. And roasted broccoli and cut up a cantaloupe. I liked it OK and so did the others, though Twin B actually said it was "too cheesy."
Hubs put new tires on the convertible today before we make the drive to Indiana. Expensive but necessary.
We had rain and then sun, another pleasant evening.
Hey-ho, I'm back~
Yeah, Ado, I'm not sure if the verdict will mean much of anything in the long run. I'm not holding my breath. I'll just do what I do --- vote, and not expect anything with regards to who wins or doesn't. I mean, once you've voted, what can ya do?!? If the Felon somehow manages to come in the leader, I'm sure I will grumble and cuss (but like an old man once put it, "All I can do is kick dirt and spit.") Life goes on. Hopefully with not too much eye-rolling or exasperated sighs.
The Newbie worked out okay. She didn't have to do much except keep Nannie company. Nannie had got up on her own, around noon, and had added 2 more pads to her pull-ups. One pad was put on sideways! Her bed was soaked, so I just went ahead and cleaned her up, got her dressed and gave the breakfast + pills to her. Then I stripped the bed and put it all in the wash.
Newbie got here 15 minutes late and I had decided if she was going to be any later, like 1:30....I'd just tell her to go on home. But then the doorbell rang, so she was off the hook. I showed her around, and I showed her how Nannie gets up from the recliner, etc. I stayed down in the den with her just chatting and SiL came by around 2:30 PM to meet the woman and chat. And boy-oh-boy 🙄 that Newbie woman can TALK. She and SiL know some people in common. Anyway, Nannie seemed to enjoy her and I won't have to stay in the den and talk with her too much once she's got the routine under her belt.
After a while I went up to my room and did financial crap, and then just poked around on my laptop. Next Thursday when Newbie comes I will go through the getting up, getting dressed and the breakfast tray set-up. I usually put Nannie's AM pills in a cup on her tray the night before....when SiL comes to 'do' Nannie, it's mostly set up. If I hear her in the bathroom with Nannie, drying her hair, sometimes I will pour the drinks and get out the yogurt, and take the tray down to the den. There is a method to the madness....the earlier Nannie is done w/ breakfast, the earlier SiL will take her away! 😏 She'll be back this Saturday to do their shower routine and Take Nannie out to get her nails done at a salon. They'll return her after they eat supper, and usually bring a plate of dinner to me.
Sunday is when BiL and SiL are going to the beach ... Oak Island , but I don't know if it is off North or South Carolina. Ask tmb, or my younger brother, sometime about my sense of geography. I used to have an excellent sense of direction, but where I live now it's not like you can find a shortcut easily because one road does not lead to where you might expect it to. I haven't had much time to go exploring, which I always used to do when I moved to a new city. After I would get lost a few times, in a few different directions, it was much easier to get a picture in my head, and could then easily find my way. But THIS PLACE ! As they say, "Well if that don't beat all!"
Momo says it's time for a good scratching Talk whichoo'alls laydah!

I hadn't heard of it until I was working as a nurse and it was ordered for a patient. The other nurses called it pyridium. Turns urine bright orange. But apparently is effective in relieving dysuria.
hullo. No rain today, but an atmospheric river is coming in on Sunday. I took my car to the garage to double check for an air conditioner leak and no leak! Yay! I've been in and out doing yard work, and some computer work for the master gardener group. The computer stuff is tedious, so I do it for 20-30 minutes, then go outside for an hour or so. dh was going to make dinner, but decided not to at the last minute. I went to my old standby, mac and cheese.
I remember giving pyridium at my first job, at a nursing home. The poor woman became nauseous, and vomited up, partly in me, mostly on the floor. The linoleum, my shoes and white pants were permanently stained orange.
Tweety, sounds like you were set up to fail. 4 weeks to train a tech? That seems generous. Around here what we called certified nurses aides need to complete an 85 hour program and pass a test to get hired at the hospital.
Now I want Nepalese food. Dh is leaving in a couple of weeks and youngest son and I are planning to go out for Indian food. And when we go to Mt. Rainier in July, we will stop at the Nepalese restaurant on the way there. So good! And the owner (maybe I've posted this before) is a former sherpa, has summited Everest several times, and has a display of his climbing gear at the restaurant.

Very cool, to see his climbing gear AND eat that wonderful food! Enjoy!

Hi Tweety
Ado that's a lot of tornadoes
Yesterday was pretty good at work, had time to work ahead and make today and Friday easier. Of course that could all change
After work made a quick run to the grocery store, then joined the church group at the Serbian restaurant. Overall the food seemed pretty good, lots of feta cheese used. I had smoked pork neck, which was fairly good but next time I might try something different
Apart from work and exercise, nothing going on today. Will likely begin to outreach body shops to take care of that paint peeling on the bumper and the scratch on the hood that I've had for months
Another cooler day, in the low 70s, thankfully no rain expected
