Hi Stars

Finally had a non crazy day, first time since Thurs.  Hoping the trend holds and that  what came before was just a fluke

Quieter day after work too, no choir practice and already did the grocery shopping.  Was expecting storms but didn't rain that much

Think it's supposed to be another rainy day, in the upper 70s

Hello! Walp, currently we are under Severe Storm and Tornado Warning. Nannie has her eyes GLUED to the TV. She invariably thinks it is about to start here, but we have sunlight and gentle breezes. It is supposed to be heading our way, high winds, incredible amounts of lightning, tons of rain and hail....except it is moving North and East, so we may get some of it, I don't know. Time will tell!

We wouldn't even have the TV on at this time of day, except the Spectrum repair guy came by because he said his dispatcher said we had called and were having trouble. I came inside and turned on the TV, but nope, no problems, no functional problems with the WiFi. The next door neighbor is the one who called them, not us.

Did you know there is a town in Northwest South Carolina named FINGERVILLE. Ya gotta wonder how THAT name came about!!

Time for supper, so you'll have to wait to see what happens

Hi, finished up the conference today at noon. There was one more session, but I just couldn’t sit any more! Came back to my hotel, and sat out by the pool to read for a while, until it got too hot. Got a message from dh that he talked to his Dr. Office and they ordered an albuterol inhaler for his cough. I will be glad to get home to cooler temps and my bed! Flight in in the morning at 9.
ado, don’t feel bad about musing here. I bet many of us think many of those thoughts.
I haven’t had the tv on here much, the news from Texas is too sad.
I feel a little trapped. It’s too hot to go out, too early to eat or go to bed. Back to my book, I guess.

Although the local news-station has been giving an extensive, continuous weather report for the last 1 and 1/2 hours, the storms seem to have continued on, heading, like I said, North-East...which means it has slid and is sliding by us about 35 miles away. We may get some rain and/or thunderstorms later tonight, but no damaging winds, no hail, no warnings.

This TV station is very proud of their computerized, fancy, all-bright-colors-map. I am weather-radared out! Now we are actually getting some 'regular' local news because the tornado warnings are cancelled-----------well, I'll be! We are back on the radar screen because now there is another tornado warning.(But not for here.) The poor on-the-air meteorologist  might have laryngitis tomorrow; he usually has a meteorologist buddy doing the BIG weather news along with him. Really the two of them are self-admitted Weather-Geeks, and do like all the Show and Tell explanations, and teaching.

Nannie wants to know who gave these people permission to come on TV like this, and for so long a time! Then she saw a town name on the map that sort of visually looks like the name of our town...I told her what it really said. But she has been looking at that TV and worrying, then looking out the french-doors beside her chair and back to the TV. But she is not or cannot take in what we are telling her. Hubby said, "It is all the way past us. You don't have to keep an eye on the backyard. It isn't even raining." Then he told me to turn the station to where the ball game is going to come on. Sooooo, the forty-five minute baseball PRE-game show can be just as tedious as a weather-report that goes on for 2 hours! Oh well!

So, that's the way it is!

We finally saw the sun again today. And a blue sky! Slow day at work. Twin A came home complaining of stomach woes (will we ever escape this?). He had an interview today for a team lead position at his job.

We did have a jar of the recalled peanut butter and Hubs had eaten some just before *he* had tummy trouble the other day. Hard to say whether it was related or not. I've told them all they need to avoid fast food for a few days and eat some yogurt. I bought a bunch of yogurt when I did shopping this evening. It was a "popcorn, apples, and cheese" night for dinner.

Stars, my mother used to comment on others' appearance the way you describe Nannie doing. But Mother didn't have dementia. Seriously, I loved my mother but she could be scathing. Then swear she didn't mean anything *mean* by it.

I wish I could motivate myself to get some things done but it's so easy to sit here and do this.

No Stars, good NO tornado/storms in your area!

nursej22, hope you got more reading in, and will have a good sleep before heading back tomorrow.  Safe travels!  (re: your earlier post about pre-recorded videos for presentations.  I agree: it's a LIVE convention!!  Of course, this is the 21st century, with all its techological falderol and doo-dads...)

I got up, had breaky, read a little, took a nap, woke up, read a little, took another nap (!) then had lunch.  Got dressed and went to the grocery store (and got gas in the car).  Put the groceries away.  Had dinner with dh.  Watched an episode of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.  And I'm TIRED!  Will go relax pretty soon, in the bedroom (one of our cats likes to lie on my legs as I lie on the bed.  She looks forward to that time!).  This weekend we plan on driving up to the high desert to join the bluegrass association for their bi-annual campout and jamming.  We will not be camping, but instead will just drive up for the day, planning for Sat and Sunday.

Now, it being the high desert, winds are predicted to be around 20 mph, with gusts to 35mph.  Temp predicted to be 79 degrees.  Will see how things go.  If it gets too miserable, we will just leave.  We plan on arriving around 11 or 12, picking for awhile, going out for sushi with a few friends, then picking some more.  Friends are playing a little concert at 8pm, and we will stay for that if it is not too cold or windy or if I can tolerate it without getting too tired.

We are both still recovering from whatever-it-is-we-had.  My voice is still hoorifice, and I am still pretty fatigued.  We did another home test tome (third one), and it was negative.  So it has just been a run-of-the-mill flu or heavy cold, take yer pick.  I slept last night without taking ANY cold relief medications, and did pretty well.

Have a good evening!

No thunder, no rain, no hail, no damaging winds, no tornado, a total weather NON-event! (Much ado, at least as far as this location.) When I was sitting out on the front porch a while ago, we did have some infrequent sheet lightning (aka 'heat' lightning)...and I saw a meteor slash the sky for about 3 seconds...I just happened to be looking at the right spot in the sky, or I would've missed it.

We lost another ballgame ? but there's always tomorrow!? Braves will be playing the Marlins again.?Not sure how they'll do, because if I recall correctly, we lost several games to Miami a couple of weeks ago. Hubby says, "Oh, well, they may lose, but it keeps Nannie occupied."

Lately Nannie has been complaining about getting dizzy when she gets up. No wonder, after sitting completely still for hours on end... Or sitting on her end for hours. Anyway, 'we' are now in training: sit up, sit still, when the dizziness eases, stand up holding the walker, and stand still. If you're not dizzy, it's OK to proceed. and if you are still dizzy stay standing a bit longer, or sit back down.

I see a Dr's appt for her in the near future. She, of course, thinks the dizziness is "something WRONG" and seems disappointed that I gave it a name (orthostatic hypotension) and said it was a common thing. The doc will check her blood pressure, etc. She said to me, while sitting on her recliner with her feet on the floor, "But, when I look down like this, to look at the floor, (bends over looking at the floor below her knees) I get dizzy. Both hubby and I said at the same time, "So, don't look down!"  ?

On TCM, Lana Turner wants her lover (Anthony Quinn), a doctor, to give her husband "a fatal injection of air." Not sure who plays the husband. There are other actors whom I recognize but I don't feel like searching my brain for their names right now.

I believe I'll go upstairs and read. I wish *I* had a cat to drape across my legs!

My late dog Caesar would sleep between my legs at night when I first got him.  I'm a restless sleeper so turning while keeping him between my legs was interesting.  Eventually as he got more comfortable he moved to sleep beside me.  This was when I was still with my ex but he bonded with me more than my ex.  There's a Tik Tok trend of couples standing between their dogs and running in opposite directions and seeing who the dog while chase.  Caesar would invariably come after me when we were together and separated.

When I was in Palm Springs in May I actually took a hike in the Joshua Tree Forest when it was 104 degrees.  It was hot, but I wanted to be outside more than in, and being Floridian I'm hardy in the heat.  I did stay at a "clothing optional place" and cooled off in the pool.  ?
