Hi Dianah

Ado too bad about the window.  Flagstaff should be nice

Tweety I'm glad they were able to manage the hernia

Not a bad day at work yesterday.  Hoping  today will be the same, although again I got another new case just before the end of the day

After work did the grocery shopping then went to yoga class.  Only 3 students there, so we did a somewhat more intensive workout than usual

Today have counseling during lunch,  then after work going to a trivia night at a local brewpub hosted by one of the Meetup groups.  Will be interesting to see how this goes

Will be cooler today,  in the mid 40s, with rain most of the day

It's Thursday again, which means we have to gather all the trash in the house and put the bins out at roadside late afternoon.

Took hubby to his Dr's appt. He is going to try the detox Ativan again, starting with three tabs tonight at bedtime, and then he can take 3 Ativan q6 hrs on Friday and Saturday, then 2 tabs q6 hrs on Sunday and Monday, and  he'll see the doc again on Monday at 11:25 AM. The doc changed them to q 6 hrs per my request because q8 hrs does not work on our 'schedule' (HA! Like we have a schedule!) Probably will make hubby 'less itchy' to get his 3 pills q 6 hrs. anyway, so I don't have to hear him ask so often, as in: "When is it time for me to take some more of those pills?"

I got Nannie up earlier today; am going to give the pharmacy some time to get some meds filled and refilled before I go over there.

I got Nannie a 6" steak and cheese from Subway, which she LOVES. She hasn't had one in a while, so when I put the tray on her lap she said, "Ooooo! That's such a pretty sandwich!" And she proceeded to STUFF BIG bites into her mouth! That's another reason to stay here until she is through chowing down...she has a tendency to eat those sandwiches too fast and sometimes coughs or chokes when the "traffic" in her throat is too crowded. But now, heh-heh-heh, my plan is working: She takes her meds first, then fills her stomach, and that puts her to sleep!

Tweety, Glad to hear your dad got his hernia 're-in-pushed' (That's a medical term???) Reminds me of how my mom used to refer to an electrical plug as a "gozinta" (goes in to).

Dr's scale said I am 172 lbs; OUR scale says 170 lbs. But either way I have lost weight! (Po-tay-to / Po-tah-to) I sure do feel better, and am hoping to lose a bit more. I think 165 lbs would be about right; under 160 would be too thin at my age. I used to be 150 lbs all the time, but that was when I had metabolism! I remember the days when I could eat 2 different suppers on the same day. No more; I am seldom even ever hungry enough to eat 1/2 a meal anymore. Sometimes I have the 2nd half of my supper as a bedtime snack, but most of the time I stick to a few tiny pretzels, the banana and a glass of milk, and maybe one or two tiny Reese's P'butter cups.

Saw an ad in the paper for 2 male Maine Coon kittens....for "only"  $1,000 to $1,500. If we had that kind of money right now, we wouldn't be spending it on a cat! But I REALLY would like a Maine Coon Cat ... and a Ragdoll cat, which is probably just as expensive. Those are our two choices, because we want some real snuggle-buddies. However, probably when the time comes and we can get a cat, we'll cruise the animal shelters. I do want two that are 'friends'...like two older cats that need to be re-homed together. Just doing some daydreaming right now, though.

dianah, I have finished "A Crack in the Edge of the World.". I have so many dog-ears (you know...page corners folded down) in that book, to reference some things I find interesting, funny, something I need to re-read to understand better, or something I want to share with someone else. What a good book! I have a few novels to read, and then I'll get "Krakatoa."

When I called in for refills, the pharmacy has a new answering "person". The recorded-auto-pharm-lady said, "That's Astorvan, right?" and just out of habit I corrected the machine and said "A-torv-a-statin", which threw the re-cording off, and 'she' said, "I'll connect you with someone now." I shoulda just said 'yes" !

Okay, I am off to the Pharmacy....lah-dee-dah, lah-dee-dah......

Later, y'all!

I just riffled through a couple areas of mail/papers, looking for the wedding invitation we received, oh, a month ago.  The wedding is Sunday evening, and I hadn't written the location down yet!  It's about a 30-min drive for us.  I looked it up on The Knot website, and got the address down.  It's officially rated "formal," so dh and I will dress dapper (that's all the "formal" we have).  Haven't been to a wedding in a few years.  The last one we attended, we did the music for!  ALL the music, even at the reception!  We aren't assigned to do music for this one, fortunately!  Looking forward to this spectacle. ?

No Stars, SO glad you enjoyed the book!  And YES, go for Krakatoa next.  Amazing books!

I have a few errands to do today, including getting a few groceries at the store so I can cook up a new meal that we will eat over the next couple days.  Found a "rice and cabbage" recipe, that is baked.  Sounded good so I will experiment and try it.

It will rain on and off today, then clear up for the next few days.  No more rain till next Wed and Thurs.  Mountain-dwellers are digging out from a new 3ft of snow that was just dropped.  Again.

Have a good day!

When I was on my way to the pharmacy, I decided to stop and get me a set of nails! (No, not ten-penny brads) It has been so long since I've had nails that I've got to learn to use my hands a little differently all over again. I don't get long ones; I don't understand how some women can have 2" long nails and do the normal things of life. I guess it's all in what you're used to. If I get tired of them, I can let them grow out, like I've done many times in the past.

But the reason I decided to go ahead and get them is that my cuticles are raggedy, making hangnails. Also the corners of my finger-tips get dry, inviting the skin to crack there. OUCHIES! I know if I lathered my hands with lotions or creams, it would help, but honestly I do not like lotion on my skin, especially on my hands. I see commercials on TV with people using all kinds of 'healing' lotions, and just the thought of spreading lotion on my legs creeps me out, because it makes my pores feel clogged. Sometimes I do have to use something on my itchy elbows, though, so a little bit of anti-itch cream is OK there.

Hubby has gone to pick up supper, and I need to start gathering grocery bags from the wastebaskets in the house, to put the big bins out at the end of the driveway so they can pick it up in the AM.

I made a last minute decision to get a mani-pedi. NoStars, you inspired me! Today's subject in class was about responsible water usage. We have issues in this area about keeping water clean enough for salmon and shellfish. Afterwards we visited a community garden set up to teach kids and it also grows veg and herbs for the food bank.
Trivia night sounds fun. I used to go but dh wouldn't. Now he says he would go, so maybe I'll check it out next Tuesday.
I like weddings, too, but I don't know about formal. We used to go out in Las Vegas, with me in a little black dress and dh in his carpenter jeans.
Ado, so sorry about your car window. We were in Phoenix in the rain once, but it was so hot the rain evaporated before it got anything very wet.

My niece had one of those quickie weddings when she was 16 and pregnant and I met her now ex-husband on the wedding day.  Otherwise I've been to one gay men's marriage (long before it was legal) and that's it.  Seems odd but I guess I've met people when they've already been together.

My mother apparently is bonding with the two injured cats and letting them sit on her lap.  Maybe she feels bad that the other one died and these two are hurt.  One has a fractured femur.  I know people that own pit pulls will say they are sweet gentile dogs and I believe their dogs might be, until they aren't.  I have a patient going through hell from a pit bull attack, and a few weeks ago we discharged a man who needed multiple surgeries from a vicious pit bull attack on a dog he owned.

I was in charge today with a two-patient assignment, discharged one and admitted another.  It wasn't too bad bad.  We had a patient go into a rapid rhythm, atrial tachycardia.  Dr. ordered a drip on the step down unit.  But she slowed down and the doctor re-ordered a home med he'd forgotten to order. I told the Rapid Response Nurse I still thought she needed to be transferred to the progressive cardiac unit because "she'll do it again" and she's a cardiac patient at this point.  She said, "no she's fine and now on her home dose of amioderone".   I said okay, but didn't think oral amioderone works very fast and takes several doses.   Anyway two hours later her heart rate is in the 150's and she's off to the progressive cardiac unit for a drip.  Eye roll......

OMG Tweety! Those poor, poor kitties!  You know I was looking at the animals available in some shelters, and SO MANY, like maybe 88% of the dogs were pit-bulls or mixed with pit-bull. I've known some very sweet pet pit-bulls, but I don't believe I could adopt any of them, especially ones that are several years old. You really can't know what you're getting. It would make me nervous after reading and hearing about all the pit-bull attacks that seemed to happen out of nowhere.

Well, okay, I hate to write this, but after I bragged to his doc today that hubby had not fallen for several weeks.....Yes, he fell tonight. He said he wasn't drinking and had not taken any pills, but I took that with a grain of salt. But somehow he fell in the driveway, maybe 10 feet in front of the Ford, and fell into and knocked over the full-to-the-top recycling bin. I didn't know he was outside. I heard him call me from upstairs, and when I went up, there he sat on the commode seat, with blood dripping off his forehead and nose, and a long skin tear from his left wrist all the way up to the tip of the little finger, and also had an enormous blood blister below his left thumb. (smh.) So I washed everything off and bandaged here and there. His glasses are, again, TOTALLY wrecked....smashed, scratched, scraped, and bent. What is this going to be, his third or fourth pair of glasses in maybe 6 or 7 months? That's just an estimate.

So, I am now officially EXHAUSTED! He's had 3 Ibuprofen and 3 Ativan (detox med) and is in bed. I just took two 0.5 mg Xanax and am in my bed, am going to rest and read for a while. Don't have anything planned for tomorrow, meaning I don't have to get up at any particular time.

Ah, me. What a life.

Sorry about the spousal falls, Stars.

Tweety, I'm glad the hernia was reducible and hope it can be managed without surgery. And oh the poor kitties.

We used to go to trivia night at a restaurant/bar near campus when we lived in Norman. It was fun.

I'm Sleepless in Flagstaff tonight. I think I pulled a tiny sliver of glass from my thumb (hate the aging eyes thing). It had made a blister-like spot. Now it has Neosporin and a bandaid applied. Good thing Hubs was a Boy Scout. My right eye has been kind of, for lack of a better word, sore, and it feels irritated tonight. And my digestive system is thinking I've had too much rich food the last few days. Whine! There were snow plows scraping the parking lot at the motel and then a train (I usually enjoy train sounds at night if they're not too close). It's quiet now. We went to Montezuma Castle (a dumb name for an ancient cliff dwelling) just before it closed. We plan to go to the Grand Canyon early in the morning. Will be interesting to see it with snow.
