Hi. Just got back from taking Angus to the vet for his shots. They think his murmur is worse, went from a 2 to a 3. They want to do a cardiac workup and I have mixed feelings. The price she quoted was $1200, or I could take him to a vet cardiologist that would likely be $2000. He is an older dog, about 12, so I am not sure how to proceed. He seems happy and comfortable.
It is still cool here, around 35, but should warm up and rain tomorrow. I did a nice 4 mile run this morning; I am doing an 8K(5 miles) run on Saturday, "Running o' the Green" fun run.
NPR had an interesting piece this morning on the delays in getting nursing licenses in different states, made me think of you, Joe. https://www.npr.org/2022/03/10/1084897499/nurses-are-waiting-months-for-licenses-as-hospital-staffing-shortages-spread
I hope everyone's day is enjoyable.
BRRRRRR! 43 degrees, overcast, and dank. UGH.
j22, I'm sorry ? but I don't see how a 5 mile run can be ? FUN! I used to WALK that and more, when I lived in Nashville, TN and Swannanoa, NC. There's no good walking places here where I feel safe on my own. Probably I should go to the Senior Center now that they are open again; I think they have a group of walkers. But not until this wicked wintry weather has gone away. And come to think of it, not during the wicked HOT and HUMID weather, either. Gosh I'm awful cranky about weather!
Ozzie is sleeping all day on my bed. He wakes me up around 7 or 8 AM to take him out to pee. Sleeps more. He gets up around 9 PM, goes out to pee, eats his supper, then later has a small snack with me while I am reading. That's the only time he gets a bit perky-ish. Later I take him out to do his biznezz, then back upstairs, to sleep when I turn out the light around 1 AM. Most of the time we carry him up and/or down the stairs now.
Hello Ado, amoLu, BCg, Davey, dianah, Joe, and Tweety! And anyone else who comes along...
Good evening.
Work wasn't too bad. Started with 4:1 ratios, discharged 3 and got on in so wound up with only two patients by days end.
At two years old my Ellie had a murmur, but progressed as she aged. I opted for no echo or a big work up but when it got worse I did medical treatment with lasix, vetmedin, and enalapril. She did spend a couple of days in doggie ICU when she had her first about of heart failure. I could hear the rales with just my ear. I would say I probably wouldn't have done a big work up but would have stayed more attuned to her breath sounds and respiratory rate earlier. But as you know heart failure happens fast that's what happened. She was fine. I went out for the night and came home and she was breathing heavy. Ultimately her kidneys failed along with her heart and I had to euthanize at age 13. They're our babies and we want what's best.
Good evening all. Hubs' procedure went well and his colon is in great shape. I've been lazy the rest of the day. "Mandatory town hall" meeting at the hospital tomorrow regarding "hospital status". Hope it's just an update on the timing of the new building and not something more dire.
J22, sorry you have this decision to make for Angus. That's a lot of money and you have to think about how results would change treatment. Enjoy your run. I'm afraid I agree with Stars that it doesn't sound fun.
Dory, one of our 13-yr-old dogs, is having an anxious night. I'm about to give her a second dose of trazodone. Poor girl.
Ado, Ozzie was on Trazadone for a while. Also Xanax. Used to get a liquid OTC med for him at HFS, called something like Calm Down, which worked well. The last 5 years or so I've dosed him with Rescue Remedy when he needed to calm down, like from T-storms, etc. Now he is mostly deaf and doesn't react to loud sounds at all.
Every weekend we think the following week will be Ozzie's 'time' and then, it isn't. Kind of nerve-wracking, in a way. We brace ourselves, and end up deciding it's not 'time'. If he would stop being so cute, like after we wash and trim around his eyes and butt, he prances around...it's heartbreaking when he does that. Those moments are when we say, "Oh, not yet. Soon, but not now."

Tweety glad the new manager is honoring the old agreements
NJ22 if I had coworkers like that I would complain too
Ado I can understand why he was feeling down
Hi Stars
Work was very busy in the morning, thankfully things slowed down by the afternoon. But at least it wasn't chaotic.
Was notified I got the MA temporary license, which should be good until the end of June. Should have the regular one by then
After work went grocery shopping and stopped by the library. Had choir practice later than usual due to the Lenten services
Should be a fairly ordinary day today, nothing special going on
Think it will be in the 30s today, might get some snow later
