Hi Tweety

Stars glad the dog is working out

Ado that is good news about the stepson

Was a good day at work as I had expected, no new cases, no meetings and no one off.  Had time towards the end of the day to help a coworker

After work was pretty quiet, ran a quick errand and exercised. Did some research on changing my vacation plans per what my cousin suggested, found out it will be rather difficult. With a little more than 2 months to go, hotel rooms in Milwaukee are getting rare and expensive, unless we stay on the outskirts.  Which will complicate things as the train station is in the center of town.  Have not heard back from my cousin in a few days.  Perhaps she's dropped the idea, which might prove best

Today will be busy after work.  Have a hair cut scheduled, then exercise, then an online meeting with the political group.  Work itself should be pretty normal

Will be another hot one, mid 90s and humid, with storms this evening

Good morning!

Stars, glad the dog is working out.  Around here they have affordable vet care/spaying for low incomes.  Not sure what "affordable" means.  Also check what the requirements are for treating a stray.  I think the time limit for reasonably finding a lost dog's owner is only a week or so here but a reasonable search for the owner should have been made, whatever that entails.  Sounds like that was all done before you were given the dog.

I love adopting older dogs since they are house trained.  Sounds like a good fit.  So happy for you.

Ado, I hope he gets into more affordable housing.

Still hot and muggy.  We hopefully will get some rain here.  Haven't got much lately and it's our rainy season.

I decided to call in sick yesterday.  First time in a couple of years.  But I'm still not well in the GI department.  On the advice of the Urgent Care doc, I went back to my regular high fiber diet because she said that would bulk things up.  Wrong. It got worse.  But maybe I just needed to adjust.  I'm not going back to low fiber because that's too meat, cheese and saturated fat heavy.  Although it was sure tasty.  I enjoyed a couple of dinners of steak and mashed potatoes.  LOL   Doc says it should run its course and if not to come back or see  PCP. I'll see my PCP as she should be back from her days off.     Google AI says 5 to 7 days it should last but maybe up to 14 ugh.

Best friends condo is finally coming along and may be pronounced finished on Monday!  Still there's a month or two of renovations to be done before he can move back.  He's done a lot of shopping.

In between bouts of I'm hoping to go to Home Depot.  I wore out the flusher handle on my toilet (cheap plastic thing but much used these days) and one I ordered on Amazon wasn't the correct one so I might see to eyeball one and see if they sell it.

It's always something.

Hello all!

Joe, I hope you can get the reservations you want, at this late date.  Otherwise, you still have your previous reservations, yes?

Tweety, that GI bug is really hanging on!  I do hope you are better soon.  I don't blame you at all for calling in sick, it was the right thing for you AND for your department!  Yay, the condo is just about DONE!!  What a road it has been, for both of you! When is move-in?

I slept well last night, yay!  Today we meet with the ds's, as youngest and his wife are flying out from Ohio, to attend a concert in LA.  We'll meet them for dinner tonight, and bring oldest with us, and drop him off with them to attend the concert (in the next day or so, I'm not sure when it is).

I am following the weather predictions of some wicked-hot days in the "corn belt', New England, and the south.  Y'all stay cool and be safe!

Have a good day/evening!

Yeah, nobody has responded to the multiple flyers with photo put out by the folks that took the dog in. Nothing from any shelter calls or vet calls, either. By the time she sees the vet it will be 2 1/2 + weeks since she was rescued. The guy who found her ("Smokey", so nicknamed by his dad when he was born.) misses her a LOT but he knows I am the very person to have and love her and spoil her.  I will give him 'visiting privileges' in a couple of weeks. I think there will be no confusion by then as she is so attached to me now, she follows me everywhere. Nannie keeps saying "That dog is following you,"  Yeah, I know.😊 Ain't it wonderful?? 😁

SiL is thrilled with the dog now....she says her pup and my dog are both small and after we introduce them, maybe they can be playmates. But I said that would be fine, except.....NO LETTING HER OUT IF NOT ON A LEASH! So, anyway, SiL volunteered to and is coming over late this afternoon to give the dog a bath! She even said she would be glad to babysit her any time! So I guess now that the dog is mine, it makes me "In Like Flint" (remember that old movie?) and SiL is more than happy to insert herself back into a 'friendship' mode with me. I think she was avoiding me because she didn't want to hear any griping about Nannie. Heck, *I* was getting tired of Nannie being practically my only thing to talk about.

And here is something I suppose we ALL expected: Chatty CG called in again today; something about her husband being sick and more blah-blah-blah. Sister in law said it was a voicemail message she sent her, so she didn't get to say anything back to her about it, but SiL says she will continue to look for another CG, and she will tell Chatty CG that we can't use her if she can't be reliable......which, OBVIOUSLY she can't be!

I wish it wasn't going to be so rudely hot and humid (tho' hum-diditty is not QUITE as bad right now). I am taking the dog out to walk around the yard about every 4 hours or so. More 'exercise' for me than just going up and down the stairs!

When I woke up this morning (early) I thought it was around 6:30, but after I got dressed and put on her harness, I noticed it was only 4 AM !  So, after we did our little trot around the yard, we went back to bed and slept until 9:30 AM and I took her out again. And then I got up at noon, did a shower and a much needed shampoo. (She isn't afraid of the sound of the hairdryer, or even a vacuum-cleaner!) Took her out again at about 1:30. When I had her out front, she stopped and listened to a loud pick-up truck coming down the road, and as it zoomed past us, she tried to CHASE IT! Good thing she was on the leash and at least 5 ft away from the road!

But, speaking of Nannie, she is having a harder time following even the simplest of directions. After a lot of repeating myself in very basic, simple instructions, I just had to do it for her (put the juice glass down on the table) and then I had to remind her to eat her yogurt-----which was on the tray right in front of her, and she had to look all over and around before she 'discovered' the yogurt cup and the spoon.. Also had to remind her to drink the BOOST and when she asked, I said, "yes, all of it." She loves that stuff, and I hope she continues to. Right now she is dozing in her chair. But, bless her heart, ...so far..... at least, she is able to feed herself, but I wonder how much longer that will last? I mean, the blank, slick spots in her brain are multiplying noticeably by the week.

Sweet little dog is dozing some as well, curled up on a blanket in Momo's old spot on the sofa. I have to get her a dog bed, hoping to find her a clam-shell bed, because the AC vent in the ceiling blows on us, and I get cold sitting here, too. I gave the 'new' clam-shell bed I'd found for Momo to SiL for her shitszu, who promptly spent two days tearing it up in a million pieces. (It was a really nice dog bed, too, and it cost $38! But I didn't say anything about that.)

Well, since I am shivering, too, (AC is set on 72) I have to go upstairs for my sweater. Guess that first I'll switch out the laundry from the washer to the dryer and start the second load, then run up and get my sweater. And Thursday is trash night, so I have to put the bins out after supper for the AM pick up.

I guess that's it for now-----

How exciting for your friend to be looking forward to being back in his home, Tweety!

Joe, are you looking to change the dates of your trip to Milwaukee?

dianah, enjoy your visit with your sons!

Stars, sounds like a good situation with the dog, and I'm glad your SiL got over her "concerns." Can't wait to see a picture!

Feeling rushed at work, have procrastinated on a couple of things that suddenly seem to be coming up very quickly. I will get it done. But I'll be stressed.

It is 96 degrees and "feels like" 103 but at least not oppressively muggy.

UMMMMM....We are watching HGTV, House Hunters International. Nannie insists we are living in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The couple are looking at apartments, and she told me they had hired her to renovate and decorate the apartment for them and she starts next week!

Stars, I am glad to read that your little companion is fitting in so well. It definitely seems to have lifted your mood.

Hotel rooms seemed to have gotten increasingly expensive in a short amount of time. Joe, have you considered a VRBO or AirBNB? Especially if traveling with another it can be more economical.

Tweety that is good news about your friend. I hope your GI symptoms abate soon or they just give you a course of antibiotics. Geesh, when you miss work that's serious.

its 68 here, feels like 65. We seem to have persistent marine layer cooling things off. The tomatoes will never get ripe at this rate.
