Another nice day here, will get to the mid 70s. I will take a walk at lunch. For some reason, my feet have been aching a lot. This is despite investing in new running shoes. At home I am barefoot. Arthritis maybe? Or as the sweet lil' old ladies used to call it their boyfriend "Arthur" whom they woke up with every morning.
I hope everyone is staying cool and hydrated. The reports from Europe are alarming. And I heard a story on NPR this morning about a city in Mexico, Monterrey, I think, that is running out of water.
Let's see, how can I say this nicely? I GIVE UP!
Hubby "let" me sleep late this morning because I was so tired out last night. Here's a segment of our convo:
Me: Did you call the doctor's office yet? // Hubby: No, that nurse said they would call me. // Me: Why don't YOU call the Dr's office now? You might want to get an x-ray of your hand, arm and ribs. // Hubby: His xray machine is broken, and my insurance doesn't cover Urgent Care, and I'm NOT going to the hospital!" // Me: You don't have to go to the hospital. // Hubby: Well I'm not going to!
So that's the end of that story!
I took a shower and washed my cruddy head. Then I went to the store and post office. Hubby had removed all the bandages and he took a shower while I was gone.
Soooo, I re-wrapped the worst of his wounds with non-stick gauze pads and stick-to-itself wrap. Naturally he had to instruct me as I was doing it, and suggest "Why don't you do this? Put that that way. Wrap it here, tape it there", blah,blah.... Wouldn't keep either hand still, and wrapping a moving target is not so fun.
I was worried about his pain levels, but apparently they are a bit more tolerable today. The little finger, if it is fx, and the ribs, if they were fx, can't have anything done for them, anyway. He's been taking 4 of the 200 mg. Ibuprofen, g6 hrs and says it only helps for maybe two hours. Coughing, sneezing and having a BM hurts his ribs, but ....OH WELL! Too bad, so sad. Like I said, I give up on 'being a nurse' to him. I give up trying to 'take care of' him.
I'm as tired of talking about him as I am about Nannie.
The End.
What Nursej22 said. You've done what you can do, Stars.
Only 92 today and those clouds still look like there could be rain.
Gma is calling the dog a shitass because she keeps going in to the food bowl. Twin B is talking through his ideas for his homework. The little cat is sitting in my lap.
Today I went one hour too early for the appt with my therapist so wasted an hour. Got carried away with work and forgot to go to a mandatory work meeting (they held 3 sessions today. I believe the gist was that our move to the new hospital will likely be late October or early November and definitely not as soon as Sept 21).
Hello all.
Stars, agree with nursej22, re: those who won't help themselves or who don't want to be helped. Hugs. Hope you can get some down time (I.e.: no dh time, no Nannie time!) today.
Ado, sorry you wasted that hour waiting. Frustrating.
nursej22, sad to hear about your feet aching every day. Puzzling. Hope it's temporary!
Hello Joe and Tweety and all who appear after.
I got a couple things at the grocery store --- things I'd forgotten to get when there yesterday! Then picked up sammiches for dh and I. In the afternoon, the travel vet stopped by - this was at dh's request. Our 17yo cat, Cloud, has had a growth on her right jawline. It has slowly grown, and it will scab over then she will scratch it and it will bleed. Most mornings we clean up a few drops of blood in the kitchen. She is too old for any surgical intervention. He gave her an anti-inflammatory (in case it helps) shot. We felt better, at least, having her looked at. She eats, drinks, poops, pees, and gets around by herself. In dh's words, "she will always surprise me with where she gets to!" On the kitchen table, on a living room chair, etc. And, being an older cat, she sleeps most of the day. We are just keeping an eye on that area and making sure she is fed and loved.
Other than that, today was quiet. Temp supposed to be 99.
Have a good evening!
"Here's the plan" he says to me; "We'll give Nannie her lunch, wait until she is through and hasn't choked on her food (sometimes she does), make her go the the bathroom to pee, get her in her recliner. Then we'll go out and eat lunch at that Chinese restaurant we went to before, where we didn't like their food. We shouldn't be gone for an hour, and she can stay by herself that long. Okay?"
Ummmm....'Happy' Birthday to ...me? SMH. The restaurant where we didn't like their food? I am so excited.

Dianah thanks for the pictures
Stars hopefully the doc can see him soon
Ado I don't think I've ever experienced temps that high
Tweety glad work was OK
NJ22 hope you can retire sooner rather than later
Work was good the other day. After work was nice too, had the church vestry get together, almost everyone was able to make it. Lasted a bit later than I had expected. Called J, he's back from his trip, pretty tired from all the travel
Today have grocery shopping after work, then the monthly vestry meeting
Will be in the low 90s today with a chance of storms
