I just typed two posts, and discovered before I 'sent reply', that they were on the wrong days! So, third time is the charm? Maybe?
I went out on errands: dropped the plastic bag collection off at the recycling place, went by the post office and to the bank, then to the pharmacy, got gas in the car, and picked up hubby's NEW glasses, since he has already wrecked 3 pair.
So far he has been cutting back on the vodka, but it doesn't appear he is interested in detox/rehab, and I am not going to keep pushing him. (because it would be ME arranging for it all.)
Ppfftt! I can't and won't keep doing everything around here. I made him go out and pick up the suppers for himself and Nannie. I am tired of being the House-Mommy and Secretary, Janitor, etc, etc. Anyway, I have some leftovers I plan on eating when my stomach says it is hungry.
dianah, Glad to hear the Manx-Man is doing better; it is so distressing when our fur-babies are sick an/or hurting. // And I second the motion, your pix are gorgeous! Thanks!
Ado, have you given any thoughts to housing Gma and Nannie somewhere together? Gma would REALLY have things to cuss about if the two of them were roomies!
Good appt w/ PCP yesterday. He okayed all my prescription refills. He paid me numerous compliments about still taking care of Nannie and now hubby, too. We talked a little about placing Nannie, and detoxing hubby, but nothing has fallen into place on any of that. I'm about ready to quit and let hubby put in some time taking care of his mother and all the other stuff instead of relying on me and my 'good nature'. The doc even asked me if I wanted him to increase the # of Xanax to 3x/day, but I said no, I don't want to get any more of the Xanax. I only take it at bedtime, to shut my mind up so I can sleep.
Well, speaking of sleep, the two nappers here are siesta-ing AFTER their supper. News comes on in 5 minutes.
Hello all!
After yesterday's walk, I slept very well. Today I got a few things at the grocery store (gonna make another soup recipe), filled the car up with gas, and got dh and I some of the Mexican food from our now-favorite Mexican food establishment (no dining in, only order and pick-up). I want to get the car washed, may do that after our late lunch.
Tomorrow we are planning to take fiddler to the studio, to do her part on P's project. No weekend plans, as of yet.
As always, hang in there, No Stars!
Joe, hope you can find a counselor you don't mind going to see.
Have a good afternoon/evening!
Stars, let's brainstorm how to room Gma and Nannie together. It would be a hoot. Maybe Nannie could steal Hubs from Gma instead of me doing it all the time. ?
Today was eventful. I got a call from the previous owner of the black cat. She had surrendered him along with other pets last year after becoming very ill. She's a veteran and went to a VA hospital for treatment. It seems that he was adopted after she surrendered him to the shelter but then later abandoned. SO she was delighted to think of being reunited and she drove to our house. I went home for lunch because I couldn't just let him go without saying goodbye. The woman had her little boy with her and he is autistic so he was frightened by our dogs. And then frightened by the cat. The cat, meanwhile, wasn't interested in getting in her car. I had the boys get our cat carrier and we were going to try that but she decided that we would be a good home for the cat. Lots of mixed feelings. It was going to be a neat story for them to have the cat back (she said her daughter kept asking about him). But we are happy to have him. I offered later if she wanted to try again we could put the dogs up and have fewer people around for her son to have to cope with. But she said they had gone to the shelter and picked out a cat that is settling in happily in their home so... 2 good kitties have forever homes. How gracious, all the way around.
I made a pot of beef stew that will be tonight's supper. There's a Jiffy cornbread mix that will go nicely with it.
Ado, what a good ending to the Cat Saga! TWO forever homes -- even with all the drama and emotional ups and downs, it ended up happily-ever-after.
I mailed a package to a friend (recently widowed), and got the car washed. I did the indoor detailing myself, and though it's never perfect, I always say "it's better than it was!"
Dh is busy with the online jam. I may make soup later... a broccoli-cheese soup (keto but not low-fat!), to which I may add a potato as well.
Have a good evening!
I had an enjoyable day at gardening class, listening to a botanist talk about plant id and classification. Yeah, I'm a plant nerd, LOL. We got to examine different specimens and chop up some flowers to id the different characteristics. I felt bad for the lecturer at times, because there is a group of chatty kathys that the program coordinator kept asking to shush. Our power was out at home for about 6 hours because a transit bus jumped the curb and took our a power pole. The driver was transported, so I wonder if he/she had a medical emergency.
That is a sweet story about the kitties. Beef stew sounds good. I'm not sure what dh has in mind for dinner. But I think there is box of corn bread mix in the cupboard. I like Krusteaz brand, but I think that might be a regional brand.
Weather started rainy, ended up partly cloudy, with a few bits of blue sky showing through. I guess heavier rain is moving in for the night.

Tweety I hope the two of you can agree on a vacation destination
Dianah thanks for sharing the photos. Plan B is to find another counselor, not sure if I should start that first or do taxes and some resume updating
NJ22 that was good she was busy on a call
Ado patients like that can drain anyone
Work was again sort of crazy, but I was able to mostly stay calm about it. Hope that trend continues but the work load eases off. Guess we'll see
Grocery shopping last night, getting stuff for coffee hour at church this Sunday. Stopped at the library too
Nothing in particular planned for after work, just the usual exercise. Might work on the resume a bit and/or start the process of finding another counselor
Will be a rainy day in the 40s here
