Ado glad the Christmas tree was easily repaired

Hi abbnurse

Stars glad your wrist is better

Dianah hope all the packages arrive on time

Tweety glad you didn't have to take patients

NJ22 hope the flooding proves minimal

Finally got the computer working right yesterday morning, and was able to get back to work.  Was a somewhat busy but not too busy day, thankfully.  Rest of the day was pretty good, exercised, and did the last of the gift wrapping, as the final gift arrived.  Glad to be done with that

Today should be an ordinary one at work.  After work will meet my friend M from the gay group to attend a concert by 2 other members of the group.  I think this is the first time we've gotten together this year, since his 2025 has been pretty crazy

Will be unusually warm for this time of year, low 50s, although I think it will drop to the teens by evening. Expected to rain much of the day

Hello all!

Joe, enjoy the concert and company!

I slept well.  I did make the Cranberry-Orange Cake, and after supper I made the tomato soup -- I WANTED it!  So, now I have four evening servings in the freezer (along with four of the chicken tomatillo soup) and one that I left out for tonight's meal.  Today I want to clean some, and possibly make some easy toffee - cook it, pour it over almonds, top with melted chocolate chips, and EAT it!  LOL!

Have a good day!

57 degrees and cloudy, with a 74% chance of precipitation. All week it is supposed to be in the upper 50's and low 60's. I'm afraid the plants, bushes, and trees are going to want to start blooming out again, 'cause they will think it is Spring. Oh well, that is the least of my worries.

Nannie is up, CG is here. I have washed the dishes, (YAY, me!) and a little later I will collect all the trash to put in the bins and bring out to the end of the driveway for tomorrow's pick up. I should probably fill my mediset, too. Don't have to go on any errands and I'm not sure what else I will do this afternoon except rest from all my tedious house-wifery.

My sister upon Maine has finally heard from the rehab place in Michigan, and they will be sending her my older brother's phone and wallet, so hopefully they will yield some more info she needs to locate his will. She is also waiting for his mail to be forwarded to her. She kept calling his post office and they never, NEVER answered their phone, so she called the main post office there, and by golly, shortly after that the post office in his town called HER! Nothing like getting to the boss to make things happen!

I need a haircut, but would like it if I didn't have to ask SiL to squeeze me into her busy schedule. I have thought about going to a beauty shop for the haircut, but I don't know where I would go. It is time to start accosting people with good haircuts at stores and ask them where and to whom they go for their hair-do. The woman who used to do our hair has moved way up into the mountains somewhere, so though I could call her, I'm not sure how long of a drive it would be to go there, and I don't know if she has officially retired or what.

Looks to be a dull day! Spell-check just changed that to "full" day. No, no, NO! I've had enough of those to last me another 9 years. For now, DULL will be fine!

It is windy, with spits of rain! Temp is 46, just a few degrees cooler than it's been, but it feels colder. I stuck my head out to toss coffee grounds on the plants, but I didn't care to stay out for very long. I've tidying and cleaning. I put away Thanksgiving decorations, and got out some more Christmas. I can't find the dvd set I got for youngest ds. Grrr. I've 2 more things to come, and then I think I'm done.

I need to start drafting next month's newsletter. I got some feedback from someone on the Master Gardener board about things I need to include. We shall see, because my space is rather limited. Oh well, I guess that means someone is reading it.

We enjoyed youngest grandson's holiday concert. We heard the orchestra, the percussion ensemble (mostly marimbas), the band, and the choir. It was nice selection of music, ending with Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson, complete with the trumpet player in a horse mask doing the whinny at the end. Lots of the kids were in Santa hats. The standing bass players put hats on the basses.

Afterwards we went to Dairy Queen, at grandson's request.

Sounds like a fun concert, J22.

Joe, glad the computer is cooperating now. Hope you enjoy your evening out.

I'm glad to have nothing on the calendar this evening. Just have to figure out what everyone is going to eat, but we can do something pretty simple. Twin A will be at work.

Tomorrow the choir is meeting briefly with the little orchestra to practice the Hallelujah chorus and some carols. Saturday night is the orchestra concert where we will join them for those things. Saturday morning is a rehearsal for the Christmas cantata for church Sunday. And of course, Sunday is the performance. The choir director invited someone to come sing with us so the soprano part will have some support.

I've been having pains in my left elbow that I refer to as "cell phone elbow" because it seems related to bending my arm to hold the phone for doing things like the crossword puzzles. I bought some of those patches with menthol and I'm pleasantly surprised that it seems to be helping. They were among the cheaper selections when I was looking at pain relief "stuff." So even it's a placebo effect, I'm happy about it.

nursej22, what a fun program!  I remember doing Sleigh Ride, in choir!  And, re: the newsletter: yes, good SOMEone is reading it.  Also, if you have limited space, could divide the tidbits of information, and leave some for next month's issue?

Ado, I'm glad you got some pain relief for that elbow.  And, good that the cantata is a GO!  "The show MUST go on!"

No Stars, "dull" days are OK in my book!

I have two loads of laundry cogitating in some manner, and dh and I just practiced for an upcoming program, for NYE's weekend.  Church is having a 24-hr meditative prayer vigil-type thingy, and wanted a little quiet background music.  Yah, we can do that, even with a banjo!  Dh is very sensitive about modulating the volume and picking out nice melody and harmony lines.  He may even play his mando for part of it.  Oh, and I want to make toffee, I found an easy recipe and will cook it and then pour it over almonds (I will toast them first), then top with melted semi-sweet chocolate chips.  Sugar rush!!

Have a good evening!

Good evening!

I never get out on time Dianah.  "On time" is 45 minutes late.  Today I got out "on time".  I was orienting a coworker to relief charge.  It wasn't a crazy day.  Those almonds sound delish!!  Glad you slept well.

I'm going in for a day surgery tomorrow for a robotic inguinal hernia repair that popped a few weeks ago that's bothering me.  Also I paid all my deductibles for the year because of my intestinal problems and now is a good time..  I'm dreading it but should be easy peasy.  I got moved up to first case at 7AM and have to arrive by 5AM.  Ugh.....Bestie is taking me and staying over night with me at my house.  It's a good friend that will take you to surgery at 5AM.

Thanks for the heads-up about the surgery.  Hope it goes smoothly, with good recovery.  You will be in my prayers.  Thanks to George for his help!

And, dh loved the toffee with the roasted almonds.  Wish it was just as tasty with no carbs, no sugar, no fat!!  LOL!

Tweety, does your inguinal hernia have anything to with your "Hurry up and sweat like a pig" YOGA? No offense, but I tried one of those classes once years ago and  found it to be torturous, even starting at my own pace to work my way up! It's a good thing, but it sure isn't for me! I do admire that you seek out those classes and then follow-through with them. Me, if I'm going to sweat, let me have access to an old fashioned wood building with rocks that have been heated by a fire under them. A 'REAL" sauna rather than an electric one or however they heat them. It's a bastardization of the real thing, but I guess if that's all there is, that's all there is. Do I sound like a Sauna Snob? 😋 And I knowI've said it before, but sauna is pronounced "S(OW!)-nah" not "Sawna"  Like it even matters, but I like to bring it up because every time I hear "saw-na" on HGTV it makes me grit my teeth 😁.

Tonight was quiet; I turned on an old Don Ameche and Gene Tierney movie from the thirties and Nannie actually watched some of it, and the only question she asked was "Who are that man and woman?" And the Devil's part was well-cast, too, but I'd have to look up who he was. He was a big, handsome devil, with just the right facial hair and facial and eye expressions to make him really stand out deliciously in the role. He ate up the scenery and the screen. But he was only on at the beginning and the end of the film.

SiL came by and put some presents under the tree. And SHE is coming over in the morning to pick Nannie up and to take her to daycare. I love to be able to sleep until I wake up, and not have to get up do any too-early-for-me Nannie-care. So it is NICE I can follow that practice tomorrow!
