Thoughts on tablets

Do nursing students use tablets frequently? I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 with a 1gb data plan and think I may want to implement it in nursing school and clinicals.

It's a 7inch tablet and I think it may be able to fit in my scrub front pocket.

Do any nursing students use an android tablet, what do you find most useful if you do?

I use a Kindle Fire. It's amazingly helpful.

Oh and it does for in my pocket on my Cherokee scrub pants. I have a NANDA book on it, a meds book, a lab values diagnostic book, and a Tabers online thingy that came with my hard copy of Tabers. Well worth it.

I had wondered the same thing. An iPad would be too large & cumbersome though right?

I am going into my final semester and here are my words of wisdom in regards to laptops/tablets.

For lecture I use my laptop because I can easily download the power point presentation (they e-mail them to us) and can type my notes a lot quicker than I can write. It is also incredibly helpful when I am not sure of something in lecture I can easily look it up. Some classmates bring tablets and seem to do okay, they sometimes complain that they can't do as much.

For clinicals no one brings their computers or tablets and I would never encourage anyone to bring their prized possessions to clinicals as there are no lockers and our belongings are on the floor in the nurse's lounge. I usually bring my drug book and a note book. You honestly do not need anything else. First semester someone brought their iPad mini and it was stolen, after that we all learned our lesson.

my facility does not allow them while doing clinical rotations, but I can certainly see how helpful they would be in study time!

I would not want to carry around a 7 inch tablet in my scrubs pocket. If your instructor even allows you to have an electronic device (some don't), I'd stick with a smartphone. For studying, though, a tablet would be great.

Cam anyone suggest some good apps that they like that would help with studying? Thanks!

Unless it's an iPad mini
