Thoughts of the day?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

So what's going on with everyone today? What's everyone stressing about, or not stressing about today?

I feel like chatting. So what's the scoop?

Im waiting for a phone call from beth israel in new york for an interview.

Its really hard waiting for this phone call, my cellphone is stuck to my side, if i could superglue it to my ear i would.

My husband won't discuss it with me anymore. He's like "be positive!" and I'm like "No! I'd rather assume I'm not getting in so I won't be so crushed if/when a rejection letter comes". So I'm playing the same games with myself, but in the end, it will hurt the same amount.

Im thinking of applying to NYU. Also, Im thinking of doing all the things I put aside when I was stressing about NLN! :nuke:

Im in a daze... thinking about my application! I wont hear from anyone until May!

Good luck to everyone!

LOL!!:roll Sorry! The visual is making me laugh. What would you tell them when you show up to the interview with the phone glued to your ear? It certainly would show dedication. Might even get you admitted!!!! I love it!:chuckle

Mstiqx, call them for an interview! it can't hurt!

Roxxy, where did you apply in NH?

Yeah i plan to give them this week, last week was really the first official week my portfolio was completed. If i don't get a phone call, by next monday i'm calling to inquire. Unfortunately, its up to their judgement if they will call me in. I went to the open house and they said an interview pretty much ment your foot was more than half way through the door as far as being apcepted, I would really have to screw up to be denied. Technically my interview would be my "letter" so to speak...sigh...torturous

Glad i could make you laugh, we all need a little humor once in awhile.

I'd have to them "its on vibrate" or something really silly like that lol

Hey Gottagetin,

I applied to concord, manchester and stratham. Concord closed on Feb 2nd so I am thinking it could be any day now to hear something, it is still a little early I guess but I am hopeful! Manch and stratham didn't close until the 28th and I have heard that it will be in the April timeframe to hear from them.

Did you apply to any of those schools? Which school is your first choice?

I am glad that we hear relatively early though, it seems like some schools wait until right before the beginning of the semester to let students know. So much is riding on this that I can't imagine having to wait and cut it that close...I have to move across the country!! :) It sounds worse than it is though, I will pretty much just move with whatever I can take with me!!

So for me... I started to feel a little overwhelmed the day after I got my acceptance letter. But today I'm feeling a little bit better. I went today and picked up the paperwork to get drug tested and got that done. I've got an appointment Wed for my physical/immunizations/tests. Friday I have an appointment to my fingerprinting/background check done.

The money issue is starting get to me. $26 here, $100 here, who knows how much the doctor will be (no ins). I went to worksource today but they told me I didn't qualify because I had a pell grant. The grant should help me but I'll have to wait to get any of that money. So much to do, no money to pay for it... I guess its not that bad, I'll figure it out. Worked too hard to get this far...

Thanks for letting me vent. :)

Roxxy, OH! I applied only to Nashua! Why didn't you go there? There's also St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Nashua....and Rivier.

My first choice is in Massachusetts. Northern Essex Comm. College. It's where I go now....and it's affordable. I'm comfortable there. But odds are slim.

How are your grades? I'm sure you'll get into one of those schools. Did you do okay on the NLN? I think anything over a 120 composite is almost a shoe-in.

Gottagetin-well I guess we won't be going to the same school then, it would have been cool to end up at the same spot! Oh well! I couldn't apply to Nashua because I wasn't able to take the NLN until January and the Nashua deadline was too early for me. I had to fly back to NH to take it because here in Hawaii they only test during certain months and there was nothing available when I needed it.

Since there is already a waitlist for Riv, I kind of figured that I waited too long on that one. Did apps close for St. Josephs?

I was going to apply to NECC but I didn't meet all the class requirements. The biggest factor going against me is that I don't have all the classes, I have some, but not all. For the schools I applied to you only get points for A&P 1 and 2, none of the other classes matter (I know for sure for two of the three anyway). They don't even look at your grades from what I understand, but I have a high gpa in my other coursework and took high school chem/a&p, etc so that is why I still qualify to apply. I did really well on the nln, I got a 148, so that is in my favor, but I am not sure that is enough since I don't have the other stuff done...so we shall see!! I guess it depends on who is applying and what they have done.

I just got an email response from Concord and they are just reviewing the apps now and said it will likely be another 3-4 weeks...ugggh!! I was thinking it would be any day now!! Oh well, at least I know now that it will be awhile so I can stop being so crazy about checking the mailbox!

BTW, when I went to NECC to talk to the advisor there I completely went down the one way the wrong way on my way out...lol :roll , the security guard was yelling at me and I was like...hmmm, what is he yelling about??!! I didn't figure it out until I got to the light and saw that traffic was coming in my direction, (luckily they were sitting at the red light at the time). I was all flustered!
