To all of those who got accepted a BIG Congratulations to all of you!
For those who did not, keep plugging away, your day too shall come...eye on the prize...eye on the prize.
I started this new thread in the hopes of those of us attending the July 2010 session for Banner at Gateway could communicate and get to know each other a little better perhaps before we start July 6th.
Perhaps look at where we all live and discuss possible car pools, study groups etc in advance. Any thoughts?
I myself live in Surprise, so anyone out my way please feel free to drop a line.
Also thought we could possibly discuss what we could do to start preparing and what to obtain prior to starting (IE: Digital Recorders, Laptops, PDA's, software for both, etc etc...).
Look forward to hearing from all of you.
Hey guys normally I would be able to go on Sunday but my husband has been out of town. I think I could do afternoon but I know I can't meet at 11.Let me know if you keep it on Sunday and I will see if things will change with my hubby. Otherwise my in-laws will be here all week next week so other than Tuesday I can go anytime! So I have a couple questions my email said we have orientation on the 6th but does anyone know what time? How many of you guys have kids I saw that someone has a daughters dance recital on Sat so I know I'm not the only one.
Im assuming that we will find out what time orientation is at when we get our admissions packets..I too was like hmm July 6th..at what time?! haha. I don't have kids, but it looks like jennaz has a daughter! From what I gather, quite a few people have gone through the program with children..so Im sure you're not alone :)
Sorry guys...if we meet on Sunday it will have to be around 11ish...can't be in the afternoon for me. I have a 9yr old son as well.
cscanlon...the location I suggested is pretty much central Phoenix, but I'm open to other ideas as well. Not particularly a Starbucks fan myself (and I KNOW I am in the minority in the world on that one...lol).
Let me know what you guys think so we can firm up when and where.
Does Saturday afternoon work? I know Jennaz said she had recital in the morning.
Anyone have anything else on Saturday in afternoon?
Or perhaps we could even meet Saturday night?
Just throwing out ideas. Never easy trying to get people together that live in different parts of town and with everones own personal schedules (kids, family time, work schedules, etc etc).
I won't be able to meet Saturday this week, sorry about that!I have to work. We can always meet next weekend either day will work for me and either location is fine too. So I was reading the post by the person that said we could buy our uniforms from craigslist... Umm did I miss something? Maybe I just assumed that they provided us with our uniforms, I can understand if we just wanted extra pairs, just wondering. I have 3 kids under 5 I know I was the one who asked about the kids but I forgot to say how many kids I have. I know lots of people go through the program with kids. I actually have a friend who graduated in March from the BHNFP and she has a son. I just wonder how hard its going to be to juggle family and school I very excited but I would be lying if I said I was nervous about this!
ruco19...all I can say is that we all should be VERY prepared to give up lots of family time and functions for the next 2 yrs. Because in my opinion that sacrifice is going to be necessary to make it through this program.
Even though it's a "part-time" program it will be every bit demanding study time wise as a full time program. Anyone who thinks this is merely just going to school Tue & Thur night and all day Saturday and thats it is fooling themselves for sure (again my opinion). We we all need to be studying either on our own or study groups at least 2-3 additional days besides that.
So we should all enjoy our family time and free time and weekends now because I think (or should I say know) that is coming to a rapid end.

Hi guys, congrats on getting in! It is so exciting, isn't it!
I am a banner fellow myself at gateway.
To answer some questions: you'll get a voucher to pick up your books when you receive your packet; I heard classes might be thurs and Friday nights and clinicals on saturday; I would suggest a small laptop to help with class work; uniforms: you can get used ones on craigslist, and get involved! It is an awesome experience, but being part-time, you can make it even better and more connected by being involved on campus.
We have a lot of people traveling from all across the valley, so you're not alone if you think you're driving far!
Congrats again!!
