Thomas Jefferson university FACT 2010

Has anyone applied yet for the FACT programme for 2010?

I am also looking to apply this summer for FACT 2011. I was just wondering if anyone knows more information about moving directly to the masters portion. I was planning on applying to med school until I realized I wanted to have a larger role in direct patient interaction so I figure since I was planning on being in school for awhile I might as well go straight through the masters but there is not much information about this on the jeff website!...Congrats!! to everyone who was accepted for 2010

Hi Pink44 - After completing the BSN portion, you have 3 options: proceed immediately into the MSN portion, take a maximum of 2 years off to work and then return for the MSN portion; or work as an RN and never return to complete the MSN portion. As I understand it you can pick any concentration you want except for CRNA (it requires a separate application). Hope this answers your question. Good luck!!

Are there any more accepted FACT 2010 Entry students?? If so, please join our Facebook group "Jefferson FACT '10 Entry"!! Thanks, Chemistry03, for promoting it earlier! :)

Thanks MPH that helps alot!...i wanted to be sure that you could go straight into the masters because my sister is an RN and she said it is extremely difficult to be very motivated to go back to school once you have a steady income and such! Good luck everyone!!!

A lot of people have told me that as well....that once you start working it's hard to become motivated to go back to school. I think that's true. But I also think that if you want something bad enough the motivation will be there. I've been working these past couple of years at a health department. The income is nice, but I really desire to become a nurse now. Plus, I'm someone who loves school, which definitely helps. On the other side of the token, life "happens", which may make it harder to go back to school, even if one wants to. I'm glad that Jeff gives us a lot of options! :)

That is true! Like they say if you want something bad enough you will do whatever it takes. Are you starting the program in 2010???

I'm in the FACT program now (graduating in May!!), and I recommend you use an iphone or something similar. I got the HP Ipaq they recommended last year that is just a pda, no phone, and it's almost useless. I use it for Nursing Central, but that's it. If you're going to spend $200 on a new device, get one that lets you check email (because some of your professors will email you 24 hours a day) and get calls and messages (because some of your clinical sites will have you a bit scattered, and your instructor will call you to find you). Also, it's nice to be able to obsessively check if your exam grades have been posted. :)

I agree about the iPaq. I got one and I hate it. Just get the software installed on your iPhone or Blackberry. I think I used my PDA the most in home care. :)

I am 99.9% sure that there is no fee for remediation.

They want you to take something like the Kaplan course if you fail the exit HESI with a score less than 850 twice.

Jefferson is also now recommending the i-touch. Is anyone currently using this? Or do you know anyone who is?

Jefferson requires the HESI too? I thought only Drexel required that in order to graduate.

Good luck to you, soon-to-be graduates! :yeah:
