Thomas Jefferson FACT Program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hi.

I have been accepted into the TJU FACT program that begins in May but the orientation isn't until a week before classes begin and I would like to get a better idea of the scheduling. I know it's 5 days a week but does anyone have some more specific info? i have to arrange for child care and transportation and a general idea of the class/clinical hours would be helpful.

also...anyone else out there starting the program with me in May?

Hi I was just starting to wonder where all the people that were applying to Jefferson went. I had my interview at Jefferson last week. It was really relaxed and chill. She only asked me 4 questions. She wanted to hear about my experiences since I graduated from undergrad and what had I gained from those things that would help me prepare for Nursing. Then she asked the standard question about why you picked this particular school. Finally she wanted to know what I thought my role in the clinical setting would be. Interesting question, I think it was just to make sure that I had some idea of how the training would go. So that was basically the interview. She then let me ask as many questions as I wanted. I was nervous, until the end of the interview because she basically told me that I should expect to get an email offering admission later that day. I don't know if anyone else has had this experience, but I seem to remember someone saying something similar. Good luck. Maybe I will see you in May :)

Anyone who's planning to go to Jeff's FACT program hear anything from them lately? I've been accepted, but that's about all I've heard. When I originally got accepted to the APW program last year, by this time of year I had gotten a bunch of invites to financial aid seminars and to Accepted Students Day. But I haven't heard diddly from them about anything, not even financial aid, except one postcard reminding me to check my Jeff email.

Nope, nothing here either!! Curious on start date, tuition and fees, book list?..hopefully sometime this month!!

Well, at least it's not just me. I don't know if they've made any changes to tuition, but here's the tuition as of last year:

Basically, $32,000 for tuition, plus health insurance.

See ya in May!

Hey Fellow TJUers. I haven't heard anything either. I am getting a bit anxious because may is coming up soon. I did find the 2008-09 nursing handbook on the website which has some useful information in it. I keep checking my jeffmail in the hopes that something has shown up. What programs have you been excepted to?

I accepted to several last year (TJU, Lourdes, GCC), but this year I only applied to TJU, because I was switching from their 2-year APW program (accepted to it) to the 1-year FACT program. Kind of strange that I had to re-apply, but because the programs are different in terms of the type of student they think will "fit", I had to apply twice. Oh, well!

Congrats on being a student that fits in to both programs. : ) I am going to email Niki today and she if she can share any information about what we might need to start collecting for school. I will let you know if I find out anything.

Hi guys,

I was accepted for FACT program too. I got e-mail from Niki yesterday with information about our orientation day. It is going to be on Tuesday 19th of May. Although the day when our program starts is not set yet, but she said that according to past years it could be on the very next day after orientation.

Now, I am on my way of getting together all my medical stuff, child abuse and police clearance report. I am thinking about Financial Aid too, but I haven't started that process yet.

If I know anything more, I will let you know:)

Yes, I got that message from Niki, too. It kind of cracked me up that she basically said we should be prepared for a full week, even though they haven't set the start date yet. Welcome to nursing school, where you'd better be darn flexible! LOL

Can't wait to get started! Yikes, I finish Organic Chemistry II on May 14! That'll teach me to take more chemistry just for fun...

Don't forget to sign up for a BLS for Healthcare Providers course if you haven't already! I did that last August through JeffStat. Glad I got that out of the way. :)

Do we have to take BLS? I didn't know... Is it written somewhere in requirements or it is just to be more prepared for the program?

Ya know, they do their darnedest to hide that requirement on the website! The only place I could find it just now was in the nursing student handbook, on p. 48:

But I know from speaking with students last year, that it is a requirement for clinicals. And I am pretty sure you have to bring your CPR certification card with you to orientation.

Regardless, you're definitely going to need it. So get it out of the way as soon as you can. It's really not a biggie. I think it ran 5 hours for those of us who had never had a BLS course before. Whatever course you take, make sure it is the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare providers course.

If you want more info on JeffSTAT's BLS:

Here's the list of all the courses and when they are scheduled:

They have lots of sections to choose from, and the course I took was done right at Jefferson, which was convenient.
