Oh my...I've already taken a laxative and a stool softener. I have gloves here and KY jelly and I'm considering "going in". I haven't pooped in days. I know it is because my fluid intake has gone down...I usually drink flavored water and juice during the day and I'm out of both except for my little man's apple juice, which is just for him and I don't want to drink his stuff. We live way out in the country and I don't want to go to the store just to get juice...thus the reason I'm considering "going in".
Has anyone else here done stuff like this to yourself? I wish I had a soap suds enema too. Whew!

My grandmother who has passed was obsessed with bowel movements...she used to put MOM in my chocolate milk because she thought I should go every day...she even would shove suppositories up in me (I was 2-3 at the time). And all the older lady residents in most of the nursing homes I've worked in, would discuss their daily movements at the dining table.
I'm just a person who shares freely...sorry to offend anyone.
Blessings, Michelle
I have had a problem with constipation for years. Started from poor fluid intake with my 12 hour shifts in the ER, progressed as my anxiety and stress increased.
Once I needed to take meds for anxiety/depression, got so bound up, it was positively painful. I was doubled over.
Yes, I've had to "go in" a time or two. I'm now on a good regime of fiber and peri-colace. Works for me. No more constipation. I also carry water with me everywhere (I do mean everywhere) I go.
Good luck
Blessings
Sure I have (though rarely)! It amazes me that nurses, of all people, can be so squeamish, and that so many of us are so afraid of touching our own bodies. It's like picking your nose- we don't usually do it, and we certainly don't do it in public, but if something's stuck somewhere, and you need to reach in there and get it out, then why on earth wouldn't you?
Prune juice tastes *really* good warm, by the way. My mother is English and of that generation that also believed being cleaned out every day was a good thing, and she drank a small (2-4oz) glass of warm prune juice every morning. I don't often drink prune juice, but if you don't care for it and yet want its laxative effects, try warming it up!
I have had colon problems all my life...until I had a complete colectomy. I have had to "go in" and let me tell ya, it was worth it. Just because we are nurses, does not make us immune to intervention. lol. Glad you are feeling better. Constipation is painful! I take MOM now when I have that problem.
