This forum is so crucial right now for my sanity. I'm so fortunate that I find it this week. I'm going out of my mind waiting for my results and I realize that I'm not the only one. I been reading alot of post and it help me alot knowing that I'm not the only one afraid to fail.

Sowe can all wait together so we won't feel so alone.

Hey if you don't mind me asking, what did you do to study for exam and how long did you study for? How did you study community health nursing?

I read the (rectangle) and summary in most of my books well the surgery one. Also I practice questions in some Manuel including Kaplan and also the Nurse Association one. I read 3000 Nursing bullets NCLEX-RN a nice book. Unfortunately I didn't study community health nursing (hated that course because of the teacher) I studied for a month but I find that it was not really worth it( well, I guess in a way yes but not to help me do the test) . Nothing would of prepared me enough for that Exam.

Hey Gentle 02... It's me your lil buddie ;) you know who hehe... you refered me to this site and now i'm a member too!! xox love ya:lol2:

Hi Nurse Nightingale!! Thank you too be concern about me and what I been up too.

I been trying too keep busy . Going out with friends, spending time with my husband ect..It help a little bit, but I don't feel that I'm really fun to be with.( I'm miserable)

I still didn't receive my result. Everyday, I wait for the mail just to be disapointed over and over again because the big enveloppe is not there.:sniff:

I'm going camping this week-end coming up and I WILL have fun, well I'll try my best. Maybe when I come back, I will have my result.

Hope everything is going well for you!!:)

Hey Gentle,

I know what you mean...I can's seem to enjoy anything either because the CRNE is all on my mind and I hate the fact that I have to to wait 12 weeks. I am just trying to keep myself occupied as well like you. Have a good weekend at camp. Write to us when you get up.

Hi Nightingale!

I still have a little more time too wait, Hopefully by monday it will be in the mail.

I will be there to support you in your wait. keep doing what you're doing, keeping yourself busy it's really the only way. There's nothing we can do about it,unfortunetly.

I just wonder why people worry so much about passing this exam. I mean, I realize how important it is, but it seems to me that if you graduate from nursing school - especially if you've done well - why wouldn't you pass? Am I being naive?

This exam is like nothing one ever experiences in nursing school. And the expectations (and the passing score) are very high. There are questions on literally any scenario one might encounter, and often a series of questions linked to each other. No one can know everything, and if you're weak in an area, for example complications of labour, and there are twenty questions on shoulder dystocia, you could blow a huge part of the exam. As well, the answers are never straight-forward, they are typically multiple-multiples...

1. a only

2. a and b

3. a,c and f

4. a,b,c and f

5. all of the above

And in the last year the format has changed from purely multiple choice to a combination of multiple choice, short- and long- answers. Subjective? Maybe. The psychosocial, therapeutic communications type questions, of which there are always a good number, are very hard. They are never worded the way a real person would speak, and one has to give it their best guess! It's been more than 12 years since I wrote mine, and I still remember the terror.

I agree with janfrn,

My friend who had like an A- average failed her exam twice and she is writing it for the third time in June. The exam has nothing to do with how you did in University/college. I am always thinking about this exam and feeling miserable. I just don't know how I did really ...three people around me failed the exam. Anyway, trust me it is a big exam that you only get three chances to write and costs a lot of money, time, and effort.

Why do nursing schools not prepare nurses to pass this test? Is that not the purpose? It just doesn't make any sense to me. If I go to 4 years of nursing school and work hard I want to know that I'll get to be a nurse after I grad!!! Am I the only one who doesn't get this???
