Think I Failed.

hi all had my interview at my cc today and don't think it went that well.i had two interviewers and both seemed so hard to talk to.it was like they took one look at you and if they didn't like you then you automatically didn't stand a chance.well one seemed a little better than the other as she asked me questions while the other one like she couldn't be bothered.so much for all the hard work and pre-reqs.just don't know what to think at this point.i was extremely nervous going in and their attitude just made it worst.on the bright side though they were another two instructers on the far side, one of whom set my home nursing exam which i passed thank god and i know she is a hard nut to crack so i'm glad i didn't get her but hope she puts in a good word for me with the other two.thanks for taking time to read my post.

another thing all they seemed interested in and the first question asked was what religion i belonged to.thought it was supposed to be a nursing interview.

I'm sorry to hear that. Don't be so hard on yourself...you may think it went bad, but they may not think so. Hang in there...you might be surprised. But I am sorry to hear that you think it went badly. I'll say a little prayer that all will turn out fine!!! And if not, try again!!! That's all you can do (trust me, I'm doing it now!).

As far as the religion question, is it a religious school you are applying to? If not, then I don't think they can ask you that (legally).

About the religion question...

Some nursing and midwifery school use invasive personal questions to gauge your response to stress, your interpersonal skills, and your tendency to take things personally.

Wow, sounds like a tough interview! I can't believe they asked about your religion...something is not right about that. I hope you get in, keep us posted!

I think its unappropiate for the person conducting interview to ask personal questions about religion, , race etc...no school should discriminate against different lifestyles...different beliefs etc...such questions are confidential and personal and person should not be obligated to answer them...

Well anyway good luck with post-interview decision:balloons:

No it is not a religious school but from talking to a few other applicants it seems that all who were interviewed by these two were asked about their religion. Not really sure why.Just keeping my fingers crossed.TIGHTLY.

But they need to be very, very careful about those types of questions, because some of them can be illegal to ask. People go in and expect an interview for acceptance to the program, and if I thought a question was too personal or inappropriate, I would simply refuse to answer...everything in your life is none of the school's business, just like any employer isn't entitled to know your life's story. This is especially true when these programs are receiving state aid.

Questions on one's religion are illegal because someone's religious preferences should NOT be discussed in a nursing interview, just like it shouldn't be discussed at a job. It's also a legally protected class.

What difference does it make if someone is an athiest, a satan-worshipper, a Christian or a Catholic? Does that have ANYTHING to do with their nursing ability?

Heck no!

I personally, don't deal well with stress that affects MY life, but when it deals with someone else or when I'm at work, I'm as cool as a cucumber.

I sincerely hope that instructors doing the inteviewing are not so ignorant to think that you can determine someone's stress level for nursing in a 30 minute interview...because you can't.

couldn't agree more.
