Things That Burn Your ***

Right now it's our snotty 3rd shift aides who yelled at me because during their 1st rounds one night a man's brief was dry and his pad was wet. They tried telling me that I just put a brief on him over his wet pad (???? yeah OKAY). I always wash him early but don't put him to bed till 10pm (our last rounds) after one final trip to the bathroom, and he was dry so I left the brief on him. He's always playing with himself down there so he must have taken it out and peed.

They always get ***** if someone is wet when they come in. When WE come in, people are wet from first shift and no one makes a big deal about it because INCONTINENT PEOPLE DON'T PEE ON A SCHEDULE! I'm sick of reporting off to these unpleasant aides and their bad attitudes.

How about patients who are ABLE to use a bedpan (in the hospital setting), but are too lazy, and s*** the bed instead??

That really fries me..

Ok, thanks for listening :)

Oh I feel you on that one. I have several residents like that. One of them told me that I get paid to clean her up so why should she help ME out by using the bedpan!

Oh yes I love that. You don't bend over upside down and backwards to accommodate their every ridiculous whim (because you have 10 other people to take care of too), and they tell you that you have to dote on them because "my money pays for your salary."

Well okay then. I just spent an hour in here with you while all my other people marinated in their own urine... give me my measly 13 bucks and shove it!

How bout the residents who think they are the only person on the hall so you should drop everything and come running as soon as the call light goes on.

And then when it takes like 10 minutes for you to answer their light they tell you it's been on for over an hour when you get there!

I also get so mad at the families that come when trays are out and keep asking us to do crazy stuff.

"Mother needs laid down, and changed, and clean her teeth while you're in there, and give her a massage, and go get her an extra quilt, and I need a glass of Evian water, and her roomate is looking at me funny so you should put her in the hall....and Hey are you listening to me! I pay your salary!!!"

Seriously. Go home!!!!

I can't stand that!!! It bothers me so much when families act snotty or disrespectful to the roommate. I just want to smack them.

Me to. I mean, why is your family so much better than the roomate?? It's really bad when the families of roomates don't get along!

A co-worker (fellow CNA) who is ten years younger than I and thinks she can tell me what to do. She learned not to do it again after her second mistake.

Plus, her whole life is nothing but manufactured drama, it's like all she knows how to do is b*tch and moan. I wish to God that just one day, she would shut the h*ll up.

I swear people just always shift blame on others. When I did LTC on several occasions their brief was dry and the PAD WAS WET! What sometimes happens is that if it's a male, then his member sometimes rolls out of the bottom of the brief and that's how it gets wet but the brief stays dry. It happens all the time especially if they squirm on a regular basis. Nothing you did was wrong.

We got a new admit yesterday. I stood there during report and listened to the CNA who had him tell one of our most sourpuss 3rd shift aides everything about him, including his diagnosis. The same girl worked tonight, and I'm explaining to her that PT changed his assist level, and she interrupts me to ask what his diagnosis was, in a really snotty tone... like I must be the most incompetent idiot in the world not to inform her what it was right off the bat.

It was the same diagnosis he had last night, obviously! She must have forgotten that I worked last night so she was going to pretend she didn't know the guy so she could ask me snotty questions and treat me like I'm stupid.

I'm soooo sick of her. So is everyone else.

Yuck! I hate when co workers have that attitude. There's a girl where I work who complains about everything. I'm sooo glad we aren't on the same shift! But she does come in and let me off 90% of the time. We can have busted our butts the entire shift, skipped our breaks just to catch up, have a million witnesses that say we did the best we could, and she still tries to get us wrote up, if say we forgot to make a bed or something. She always talks down to us, and tells us she isn't going to carry our load, and that we don't ever do anything.

One time our charting was at 90%, we had half the hall ready for bed, had passed and fed all the supper trays, had picked up half the trays, and done all the 2nd shift showers, and instead of thanking us for doing half her work for her she just says "see I knew if you guys actually worked you could get all this done". UGHHH. We split the shift so we're supposed to do 50% and she's supposed to do 50%. And we always have at least our part done but apparently she isn't happy unless we do her part to. I wish she'd quit already!
