so today i was in the ER, accompanying my brother after a fall, and while waiting around, i heard the oddest conversations, and i can only imagine what the rest of you hear....
and among all that, one of the sweetest things ever
so the nurse was leading the patient, an elderly woman, and her family to a bed, and the grandson was pushing her wheelchair and talking to them
the nurse: "its so nice of you to be taking care of your grandma like this"
the grandson: "she's the first love of my life"
it was one of the sweetest things i have heard a patient/family member say in a while.
so whats your story?

Terminal cancer patient... my age... stricken 6 months into a forced retirement (d/t municipal bankruptcy... which cost her her medical benefits)... terrible malodorous necrotic wounds, veins that defy even the most skilled ultrasound lines, poorly controlled pain...
When I pull the curtain and walk in, "Oh, thank you, thank you... *You're* here... oh, what a relief."
