undefinedok guys,
i just had a revelation (sp?) of sorts.... i'm sitting here...surfing the web...looking for other jobs, careers, etc (like i always do) and it came to me......what in the heck am i doing???? i started thinking about my job and realized...it really isn't that bad at all. it was kind of like dorothy looking for oz....when she had it all right in front of her...right in kansas. ok...i work med/surg....our nurse to patient ratio is excellent most of the time. i usually have an average of 5 patients on nights...(once i had one..lol..and once i had 11) but on average.....5. i absolutely love my co-workers..we all work as a team to get the job done. our doc's are for the most part...great. i just got another raise so i'm up to 25.11 plus the extra 1.50 for nights. so..what do i have to complain about...nothing. i work eight hour shifts and every other weekend. i think maybe it's still the every other weekend thing that bugs me. i tried doing 12 hour shifts...every third weekend..but the 12's were not for me. i should stop pouting though...if you think about it...it's only two weekends a month..i have the other two weekends to do what i want. plus..my sup. tries to get all 'veterans"...those that have been there 20 plus years....off weekends...or maybe one weekend every five weeks or so. i think that is fair...they've put in their time. so..i guess i'll just have to stick around for another 15 years and i'll be set...lol.
ok...seriously...my point is....i don't have it bad at all....at least i have a job....and it's a job that's enabled us to buy a house, and two new vehicles, and live quite comfortably...(well my hubby helps out too..lol)
anyone else want to chime in and agree with me or tell me to shut the heck up....lol..just kidding...don't flame me... :angryfire i just wanted to share my "new and improved" feelings with y'all. :balloons:
take care everyone...
luv,
snoop'

Sometimes ya just have to take a step back to see what's really in front of you. I think you just found it again.
I certainly couldn't complain... if I was content with all the above, I'd stay put ! :)
Thanks Jnette....
It's just like your little quote:

snoopy, you had a wonderful revelation. i am glad you didn't realize your blessing to late. there are plenty of people that wish they could have the security of a nursing job. i agree that nursing isn't for everybody but if you like it stick with it. nursing is a good job for those that want it. rock on!!!
