things friends/neighbors have asked you "because you are a nurse"

Published

I thought this may make an interesting/humorous post....I was asked this am by my neighbor to remove a fishing hook stuck in his thumb...naturally I sent him to the ER to have it removed and get a shot/ABT/Tetorifice....

What things have we been asked to do or advise on by others????

because "we are nurses"......:saint:

Gah, what haven't I been asked? Bowels, infections, pregnancy scares...

In my family anytime I hear "better get Jane" I know there's something wrong.

Specializes in SICU, Peds CVICU.

Usually I get, "What's this rash?" most often at dinner (eww!) One time I watch my brother-in-law to be pinch an infected hair follicle (I think...I ain't no derm-o-tologist) until it pussed everywhere. (We were in the middle of a casino at 2 am, lol).:uhoh3:

After being asked if my mil's sore toe was gout and if my fil really needed to have knee surgery, I finally told him "I take care of little babies, not big ones." Haven't been asked anything else in four years. Now it all gets directed at hubby. Thank goodness they listen to their docs though.

And when my sister and I were flying to visit family I gave her explecit instructions that unless someone was actively dying on the plane I'm NOT a nurse.
