The University of Tulsa (TU) - ABSN

Published

Does anyone here have any experience with or know of anyone that has gone through the online ABSN program at the University of Tulsa? I haven't found any reviews so far and would like to know others opinions before applying.

I applied and got accepted for the fall 1 semester which begins in August. I am from Massachusetts.

wondering if you know anything about clinical placement in Massachusetts? I am currently looking at applying to this program but want to be sure I'll be able to have clinicals without having to find them all myself.

The website says the school will find clinical placement for students. I haven't met or spoken to anyone currently in the program.

I just got accepted for Fall 2, which starts October 21st.  I work in Tulsa as a respiratory therapist at one of the local hospitals where traditional students are often seen, and I have been impressed with both their students and their graduate nurses.  It sounds like a lot of thought has gone into this online program and I can't wait to start.

I talked to Admissions yesterday and was asked if I planned to work full-time during the program, and when I confirmed that I do, I was told that the 24 month track would probably be the best way to go, which sounds great.

I look forward to hearing from others how it's going as we begin this adventure.

Welcome to the group. The program seems legit and I have paid my seat deposit.

I just applied for Fall II. I'm curious about the format. Does anyone know if it's block format? Do they use ATI? HESI? I also saw 5 starts a year?!

Does anyone have older prereq's and did you have to retake them?

Tea, please. 🙂

There's a welcome webinar next week on the 4th, I believe.  My Advisor called me Friday to ensure I registered for it.  No ATI, no HESI, you apply with your transcripts and get a decision.  I had older prereq's from when I became a respiratory therapist, and they took them all.   Good luck!

Edited to say: I'm not sure if they use ATI or HESI during the program.  Sorry, I'm an idiot and was thinking pre-admission when I saw ATI/HESI. 🙂

Thanks for the info! I'm starting Oct 21st, and I'll be on the webinar next week.

I am looking into this program for next Spring/Summer start. I need to do a Chem class before I apply. Has anyone used Portage for this?

Can those of you who are starting this fall please post updates on your experience, and any tips or advice would be amazing.

Thanks so much!

Hello everyone! I know this post is late, but did anyone started the  program yet? How is it going so far?  I just turned in my application and waiting for the school reply. I will appreciate it if I get your guys reply. Thanks!

Hi Stella,

This week has been "Week Zero", where we established a message board within the school, went through some orientation tasks and modules to meet other students and basically got used to the online platform we'll be using moving forward.

It's going to be fast--paced, high-speed and low-drag if you're trying to complete the program in 18 months.  Everyone I've interacted with thus far has been excellent, however, and I'm looking forward to the program.

I personally was accepted with the understanding I'd need to take an additional A&P course due to the age and way my pre-requisite courses were constructed, and I've given serious consideration to deferring my admission and starting in the Spring session beginning 1/21/2025 or one of the later dates coming up after that.  So far I'm in, though, and we start classes full throttle on Monday of next week.  I'm enrolled concurrently in an A&P 2 class outside the university, so we'll see if that's the right decision or if I end up wishing I'd have deferred admission until this class is complete.

Best of luck to you in your application!  The program seems very well laid out.

Take care,

Eric
