Career Switch: Business to Nursing (ABSN Colorado)
University of Tulsa is approved in Colorado for 2nd bachelor degree accelerated nursing. They have clinical sites in CO Springs, Denver, and in Fort Collins area. It's a fantastic program and it's not crazy expensive like these other schools.

Unfortunately, that's extremely unlikely. For my situation, I'm at the mercy of my preceptors schedule- It Could be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday for one week and then the following week it could be Monday, Tuesday. If you are in a major city like dfw, Houston, etc. you'll be 2 days during the week and it change's according to hospital needs and your class. I have only heard of one person having clinicals on the weekend bc her preceptor had a rotating 3 on 3 off and that means her schedule was variable week to week. It's an online program and if you are not flexible then it's likely not going to work out. I can also tell you with the amount of work it's really hard to work. I am only able to work one day a week and I think when classes start in the fall I'll only be able to work one day every two weeks. We have a lot of assignments due and every class has a group project. Most of us who work, do so PRN and pick up shifts when our schedule allows it.

Current student is correct. I don't have much healthcare experience and taking a full course load was a lot and there's no way I could have worked during the first term. Pharm is a hard class and there's a lot of work and reading to do with. I direction on what to study for so anything in the book is fair game. as far as the proctoring... when the test ipend and starts recording that's when I clicked on "monitor" and showed my space and surroundings. Once I did that I sat down and started my test. the biggest out of pocket expense will be traveling to Tulsa for bootcamp. My flight, hotel, and rental car is costing me about $1500 for the week. I'm sure you can donut for cheaper- I'm paying for convenience. if you have healthcare experience, it will be doable for you. I treat class like it's work. I do all my assignments Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Most assignments are due Wednesday and Sunday. There's A LOT of busy work. So many group projects, papers, discussion boards, PowerPoints. and reflections. Just be prepared for a lot of work to do especially the first semester.

I'm starting the program in January. semesters are broken down into 2 terms per semester (8 week terms). The standard nursing classes have the correlating clinical component- this is the same for every nursing school across the board bc it's regulated by the state's BON. I'm scheduled for 18 credits next semester ( 9cr term 1; 9cr term 2). I'm prepared for it to be a lot of work and moving at a fast pace. My clinical starts in the Summer. Skills boot camp in Tulsa is scheduled for May. They have the semester break down sheet listed on the website or you could ask them for the worksheet. they have been really kind and easy to work with.
