Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I was considering going through this university for my RN- BSN.... The school claims the program is only 13 months and 6,450 if all you need are your core nursing classes... If you need pre-reqs it can still take you as little as 13 months, but it's an extra 349.00 per course... This seems very reasonable... Just wondering if anyone has gone through this program or is currently doing this program?

The school only allows us to take one nursing class at a time and I agree with kc post the teaching assistants some are a challenge it's the uta processes that are so frustrating I am taking as many classes as I can so I can be done ASAP

It takes uta a while to get thru the application process as they do a certain amount of processing at a time based on the requested start date

What school are you referring too that only lets you take one nursing class at a time? Because at UTA you can take 2 nursing classes together. I have taken 2 nursing classes every 5 weeks since January.

I may have misunderstood who you are referring to though.

Scarletfire, Im trying to get into the program now. I've already applied and sent in my transcript 3 times, but my to do list hasn't been updated as yet. How long did the entire admission process take? They seem to be very slow on my end with no one to talk to.

I applied to the program June 7th; received e:mail confirmation that my application was complete June 29th with a transfer credit summary and received my course map July 20th. Like you, I began getting nervous a few times but I called the admissions office once regarding my transcripts and then another time a few days before I received my course map to ask about my status. Both times I got a real person and received helpful info. If you call, be sure to have your student ID # handy because they will ask for it. Hope this helps.

Thank you for replying. I will be calling the admissions office in the morning.

I never got a memo that I recall regarding classes. Maybe it just started this last semester. I was taking Capstone which would have meant this last semester I only had one class at UTA.

Though, from what it sounds like you were taking nursing classes with non nursing classes. I only had to take nursing classes so I only had 2 nursing classes each term no other classes, so maybe that is the difference.

kcdunlap,

I took 2 nursing classes this summer simultaneously and have registered for 2 beginning in the fall (Aug 13th). I never received a memo either. I did read somewhere on the academic partnership website that they strongly recommend 1 nursing class at a time. Maybe they allow only so many credit hours in one semester like other colleges do.

Maybe there is a GPA requirement. I spoke with my advisor and they advised me to make sure I was able to handle the work load. She did say they recommend only one nursing class but leave it up to the students discretion.

My advisor just emailed me back there was a rule in effect of no more than one nursing class but apparently a week ago this rule was squashed as long as the student is aware of the amount of hours required to do the work...just another way UtA messed up I could have gotten more done than I have and the only way I found out was because you guys had taken two classes and I am pretty certain I would never have know other wise smh.. As it is I am already registered thru to december so I will leave it for now...smh so doggone frustrating too far in to pull out now
