The University Of Alabama FNP 2023

Updated:   Published

I am beginning the FNP Online program this year Spring 2023. I haven't found a thread that gives any advice or information regarding the program so I thought I would post. I'll be. posting things as I go along.

First thing is first. The FNP Full time starts clinicals in the Summer while the Part Time begins next year in the Summer. They have a list (very long list) of locations that work with them in several states; however, it is YOUR responsibility to find a preceptor. They are amazing though and work with you BUT it is ultimately your responsibility. Many schools do this as well so this shouldn't come as a surprise.

Lots more to come.

I had to email them and then I got a response back saying that though I met the requirements, my application was not competitive enough. Send them an email to be sure. I accepted my first school after I emailed them and got a response back.

Wow what a way to find out... ? still haven't heard back either so I'll send the counselor yet another email. Congrats on your other offer yay!!

Has anyone who applied for Fall admission heard back yet? I got accepted to another school and need to submit my acceptance of their offer by the first week in April. I know someone said UA was making decisions 2 weeks ago. Wondering if I'm still in the running or not.

I received an email last Sunday for an interview. I completed that on Tuesday and haven't heard anything else since. I was going to give it a few weeks before I reach out to them. It seems that people have heard if they have been accepted in that time frame after an interview. Last week was their Spring break so they may be behind in processing applications. Good luck!

@MOONNightNURSE hope you are doing well. I appreciate the info on the program, it's so difficult to find anything about it.

I received my acceptance letter via email yesterday. I was able to complete the drug screening today and my background check is being processed. Does anyone know what else will need to be submitted? I'm assuming immunization records. Thanks!

Congratulations!! You will need to have a health assessment completed by a PCP and submit verification of vaccinations and TB tests. There are other forms that need to be signed and uploaded such as the academic policy, HIPPA, etc.

Hey All,

Congrats on getting accepted to the program!  I also received my acceptance contingent upon a background check and drug screen a few days ago as well.  Does anyone who started this program previously know what time frame they usually do onsite orientation?  Trying to determine roughly when it would be for Fall 2023 students.

Thanks in advance!

I got another email after they received my background check and drug screening results. The orientation for Fall 2023 is August 24th & 25th.

Hi all! About 2.5 weeks ago, I applied for the Spring 2024 BSN to DNP dual concentration FNP/PMHNP program at the University of Alabama. Does anyone know how long it takes after submitting a grad app to receive an interview if you are going to receive one? My app says "Department Review in Progress" and it has said that since the day after I submitted the app. I was told that after the interview that it would take about 2 weeks to receive a decision, but not how long after submitting the app it takes to get the interview. I've left several messages and sent an email to ask but haven't received a reply.

Also, what is everyone's experience with this program? Once admitted and classes have started, do you receive timely replies and help if needed from faculty and professors?

I have heard some people say that they interviewed prior to the application deadline when they submitted their applications early, but I'm not sure on the time frame. I applied a few days prior to the March 1st deadline and it's taken between 2 weeks to a month and a half to get emails regarding an interview and admission. Spring break also occurred during this time frame which may have delayed things some. They may still be processing the Fall 2023 applicants. I emailed twice and left a message once and received a response regarding admission decision. It seems that it takes a while for communication to come through with this program.

If you look at Moonnightnurse's post on the first page, that is the most information I have been able to find regarding the program.

Good luck to you!

My application was complete on 1/17 and I was invited to submit my interview on 1/24.  I received my acceptance email on 4/12 (along with several other people on this thread), so much more than 2 weeks after I interviewed. I think when you receive the admissions decision depends more on what else they have going on. Right now, I would imagine that they're still trying to solidify the Fall 2023 class and will move on to the Spring 2024 class next.
