The University Of Alabama FNP 2023

Updated:   Published

I am beginning the FNP Online program this year Spring 2023. I haven't found a thread that gives any advice or information regarding the program so I thought I would post. I'll be. posting things as I go along.

First thing is first. The FNP Full time starts clinicals in the Summer while the Part Time begins next year in the Summer. They have a list (very long list) of locations that work with them in several states; however, it is YOUR responsibility to find a preceptor. They are amazing though and work with you BUT it is ultimately your responsibility. Many schools do this as well so this shouldn't come as a surprise.

Lots more to come.

Hey everyone! I also applied for the fall semester. I did my interview just over two weeks ago. I'm so antsy waiting for a response...

Next tip: the proctured exams are on examity. They announce when the exams are to be scheduled. Make sure to schedule your exam date and times ASAP! Times fill up soooo quick. I had to schedule one of my tests at 4am!

Ill post some info on how to do your Neuro,  Pediatric and Muscoloskeletal exams. I created my own "script". Practice! Youll have to record yourself, and it must be within 20 minutes. Youll have to interview someone. No pets are allowed to be im the video, no mirrors etc. They require you to record the ceiling, floor and entire room before AND after the video and they must see everything you are doing on the video. Only the video recorder, the interviewee and yourself are allowed to be in the room.

Have you interviewed yet?

No interview yet. It just says my application is completed. I also applied to 2 other schools with similar program requirements.

Specializes in Cardiac / Neuro.

Anyone gotten any updates? I emailed asking for a timeline but didn't get any help :/

Nope. No updates here either, but based on previous posts, I think the first acceptances will likely go out this month. At least I hope so.

I still haven't heard back from them, so I hope, I will soon. I got accepted to a school I applied to after this one though, so they are very slow.

Yeah, the waiting is annoying and thank you!

I just got an email stating that they're now making decisions so the emails should be coming soon, fingers and toes crossed for us all.

@MOONNightNURSE

I am starting my FNP post MSN certificate in May and am so excited! I am going to do the 3Ps Summer and fall and then clinicals next Summer with the traditional FNP program. I am in GA and work full time (Monday-Friday 7a-3:30p) and am a little anxious about clinicals. My employer is reimbursing tuition but I have to remain full time to qualify. I have already found some locations near me open on weekends and later in the evenings and will just need to contact the practices to see if they are willing and pass the clinical agreement process. Just curious if they are picky about how many preceptors and locations you use per semester and if they allow you to complete a bulk (50-60hrs) of your hours in one "cram" week

Specializes in Hem/Onc, Med/Surg.

Thank you for sharing your journey! I applied to the Post-Grad FNP program for Fall 2023. I applied at the end of February and am a little worried I waited too long even though the deadline was March 1st because some people have already been contacted for interviews. Just anxiously waiting to hear something. I know this is Spring Break week for the college. Hopefully, I will hear something by the end of the month. Thanks again for sharing your experience with the program.

If anyone has completed the post-grad FNP, please share your experience with that program. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone who applied for Fall admission heard back yet? I got accepted to another school and need to submit my acceptance of their offer by the first week in April. I know someone said UA was making decisions 2 weeks ago. Wondering if I'm still in the running or not.

I had to email them and then I got a response back saying that though I met the requirements, my application was not competitive enough. Send them an email to be sure. I accepted my first school after I emailed them and got a response back.

OK, thanks for letting me know! I'll send them an email.
