2nd quartile. It's funny but everywhere I looked people were only talking about how they got either 4th or 1st quartile. There were very few comments on the nursing related threads where "average" people like myself shared about being accepted into the program. I'm a bit sad that my results aren't higher, but I'm happy they're not the worst 🙂 At the end of the day, English isn't my first language, so I was kind of in the disadvantage to begin with.

That test is an absolute scam and tells nothing about an applicant! Im sure youll be fine. I've heard ubc is thinking of removing casper requirement for future applicants, it shows they're aware of how useless the test is LOL. I myself did so bad im thinking 1Q..

The CASPER's concept isn't that bad. HR uses situational based assessments all the time and they can tell a lot about the applicant, but the format can be improved. I don't understand how the ability to type concise and well structured responses to three questions in just five minutes demonstrate my readiness for a healthcare profession. Also, having to wait a whole month to see the results is a pure torture! When was your test?
I haven't submitted the supplemental yet, but the final draft is ready. I'm just returning to it from time to time to alter minor details. How about you?

I personally think its really bad, and the fact that they have video responses and randomly assigned examiners scoring you also isn't ideal. I know people talked about being discriminated because of video recordings. Plus the time makes it even worse, how are you supposed to type or speak all points in that short period of time? I also think they're not really looking for perfect answers, but more at how we handle the questions and how frustrated we get during the process (just my thoughts). Theyre well aware its not possible for everyone to cover all major points so theyre def looking at other things more than just a "perfect response". Overall Its more of "how fast you speak and type" than "how ethical you are" to me. Goodluck with your supplementals tho! I'll send mine in after new years. Currently waiting for casper to send me my quartile so I know where I stand so far..

Hello from current cohort!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and safe and healthy new years!
I am happy to help answer any questions you may have and point you in the right direction. I was in your exact position a year ago, so I know what you are going through.
Let me know how I can help!

No worries, just remember that you still have equally important parts of supplemental application and your GPA that counts as well, so you're certainly not out of the race yet!

I don't have a previous degree but my OGPA is predicted to be 4.26, and the last 30 when calculated would be close to 4.33 if not 4.33 . However, I have just around the minimum credit requirement and I don't have any long term volunteer experiance. I've volunteered for Big Brothers for less than a year (8 months) and recently began volunteering at a homeless shelter. I am also currently working to get my mental health certificate. I'm really worried about my supplemental :(((

Each cohort is different with different candidates with different stats. You have a solid foundation from what I read, so just do what you can up to the application date.
As for supplemental, take your time with it and make sure to make many revisions and drafts as needed. It should be an opportunity to display to admissions what you can offer beyond the CASPer and your grades.

I think my average was exactly 80%.
My CASPer score and supplemental I am certain helped me just to emphasize that GPA is important but only 1/3 of the considerations for admission.

Thank you! Just curious, do the supplemental essays need to be really well written? Im not sure how to go about them

How did you do on casper? Also did you have a completed bsc degree prior

Well, do your best. Remember, this is reflecting who you are to the admissions team beyond your grades and other credentials.
I understand where it can be frustrating not knowing when you are "done" writing, but it is worth your while to put in the extra elbow grease considering it plays 1/3 of your admission application.

I did fourth quartile so I'm sure my CASPer score helped me a lot.
I completed a BSC in Chemical Biology at UBCV prior to admission.
Where my prior degree helps me slightly in pharmacology and physiology, nursing is a "different animal" than a BSc I can assure you.
