Hi everybody, I thought I'd create a thread for those who are applying to the UBC BSN program for the 2023 application cycle. Please feel free to drop any questions and share your background/experiences! ?

Did anyone from past cohorts notice the selection committee put more focus on any of the components over the others for receiving an offer/getting waitlisted?
I do not know anyone personally from the cohorts but from all the research I have done on various websites (and also learned from the Q&A that UBC admissions did), they are all weighted equally ? I assume it is not extremely rigid and that they use their own professional judgement for each person they accept though

Current UBC student here. My GPA was below the competitive average, and my undergraduate degree was in the Arts, so I didn't feel competitive academically. My CASPER score was in the 4th quartile (highest), and I felt that my supplemental was really strong. I know there was some people who were waitlisted with an average GPA 10% higher than mine with the same CASPER score...so the selection committee was obviously not super rigid in their consideration and valued my relevant work experience (6 years in mental health/addictions/overdose prevention) and corresponding supplemental answers. Hope that helps a little...haha. It's hard to give hard statistics because they don't share our entrance scores with us if we got accepted, only if you're waitlisted, so I can't say for sure what my supplemental or GPA was officially ranked at.

I find myself checking my application and messages several times a day even though I know nothing will appear. On the other hand, it's also very exciting! As someone mentioned previously, this year's forum is surprisingly pretty quiet. Regardless, I hope we all get a seat and can meet this Fall ? I don't want to jump the gun too early but maybe we could set up a facebook group after offers go out
Oh my gosh, me too. I am checking all my applications several times a day even though I know I have to wait until April/May. Waiting is hard.
A facebook group sounds great for once we start hearing back though!

Super weird; it says that maybe you didn't hand in something by the deadline? Did you miss your transcript? When did you do the Casper?
John Lee said:I literally finished everything in January. Additionally, I didn't receive any email that I missed something. I just checked my application today and showed me like this.
Huh very interesting ? I would say to contact them ASAP, I did my Casper Feb2nd and my application is still under review so you definitely did everything right!

Such a weird situation. Did you need to send in multiple transcripts? Or did you take all of your courses at SFU. I hope this gets resolved... that really sucks :((
