Hi everybody, I thought I'd create a thread for those who are applying to the UBC BSN program for the 2023 application cycle. Please feel free to drop any questions and share your background/experiences! ?
John Lee said:Does anyone know how many applicants this year? I heard that last year was over 800 and only 120 seats, but this year is 150 seats available.
I think the number of applicants are provided of a cycle are provided in the next years info session so we won't know or maybe they'll let us know when offers are sent out
This years page has also been really inactive so I have no idea how many people are applying- hopefully less LOL
Last year there were also around 40 people who got off the waitlist and we have 30 extra seats this year

I hope so!!! IDK why but this year, the page is really inactive compare to previous years.
For some reasons, Douglas 2023 September intake reopen in Feb (Usually, it only opened for 3 days in Oct), so I can assume that not enough student applied for Douglas College nursing. I wish people didn't apply UBC as well.
My friends told me that they could check their estimate Capser score through Altus website (It does not same as UBC score). However, I don't think it is available this year.
I wish all of us can meet in September.

BCIT also had a second intake for their April intake - so it seems like theres a lot less applicants
Also, I can see my Casper quartile through the Altus website. Maybe your results haven't been graded or updated yet.
Hopefully we get accepted !

At the supplemental application info session this year, they said they will not be releasing the number of applicants they received for this cycle until after offers go out. But I did some research and found these stats from previous years.
2015 Admissions Stats:
https://nursing.ubc.ca/undergraduate-learning/faq
- 80% GPA Average
- 89% had prior degrees
2019 Admissions Stats:
- 72% - 92% GPA Range
- 82% GPA Average
- 120 spots for 500 applicants
- 79% had prior degrees
2022 Admissions Stats:
(I got it from an info session so my numbers might be slightly off)
- 74% - 96% GPA Range
- 86% GPA Average
- 150 spots for 600-700 applicants

Your Casper score is sent to schools two weeks after your exam date and the quartile you scored in is available for you to see available four weeks after your exam date. If you took yours on Jan. 19th, you should be getting yours any day now. They will email you when it's uploaded on your Altus!

Oh... so it is more competitive over time. Damn, 96% GPA? I am not sure how they calculate my GPA because I took pre req from SFU and A- is over 85 but over 80 is A- at UBC

AlenaJ is correct, it was confirmed during the online info sessions that Spring marks will not be counted when making acceptance decisions.
