Ok, I have been reading through all the other posts. Is it true I can get licenced in another state say Vermont or NM and then apply to california? I am an Australian nurse, and I have heard california is pretty tough to get licenced with an takes up to a year. If I get licence in vermont, what is involved to get licenced in california
thanks so much for your help.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't forgetting another area of nursing that board might be looking for. ie. community nursing. Thank you so much for your help.
I hope my program is sufficent, I feel confident as I have over 800 surpervised hours as a student RN, and a total of 7 years university edu. in nursing and health science, but I understand only C brn can determine if I am eligible. i just want to make sure I have done everything to give me the best opportunity for sucess.
So I don't need to worry bout where my visa or green card status is, c brn are only interested in the fact that I have an SSN?
I will make sure I get all my transcripts sent in asap.
There is nothing on California brn site that explains how the assess international application, I have looked and have asked C brn. They said the information is not available to the public.
They do not inform the public on how they actually assess it (the nitty gritty details) for security reasons and all you need to know are on their application forms. Anything more than that and it will make them vulnerable to forgers and fraud. You are giving the impression to the one you talked to when you called them and to be frank the way you posted here as well that you want the actual protocol and how their evaluators evaluate international applications beyond what is already being asked on their application forms.
I say just apply and find out if you meet the necessary theoretical and clinical hours for them.

I am not sure what requirements you are asking for. You need to have completed sufficient theory and clinical in med-surg, psych, maternity and pediatrics. What determines "sufficient" hours is up to CA BRN's evaluation.
If you've done Deakin's PDU's about maternity and peds, you should be good for those subjects.
If you get your university sorted to send off the transcripts to CA BRN when you're finished, you should be good.
You already have a SSN, so you don't need the green card to get the license from CA. It shouldn't take 2 years to get a GC via marriage.
