Well, we all know how the voyeur in each of us loves reality TV, even if we watch very clandestinely. So, have you ever had a day that was going so well that you thought you were being punk'd? Sometimes the stars just line up right and its the perfect shift: enough staff, stable patients, appreciative doctors. So, what would make your shift absolutely perfect?
And NEVER drop the "Q" word!
How totally true! I worked at a LTC facility one time and an aide had known me from back when I worked with him (small world). A new caregiver came in and said, quite loudly, "I can't believe how quiet it was today!" He said, "Oh, no you didn't" cringed and looked at me, knowing what was next. "You know I still have another four hours and he has another eight and you just jinxed it."...sure enough, she went home after her wonderful day and we had two falls, a medical emergency and a patient that was dead set on trying to elope (but luckily got tired and went to bed). I got to leave around the same time the he did after finishing all the incident reports. Never, ever, say the "Q" word!!!
