The Looks of A Future Nurse!

Published

Hello! I'm am so excited to be a (hopefully) nurse in the future! I am currently a male high school student but i just need some answers for the future! First is that i am worried about what i will look like in 30 plus years. if i start to bald and my hair gets thinner ehat should i do? to me it wpuld me weid to have a big bald spot and also what is it like in peds as a male nurse? do parents look at you differently because they think that only women have the right care for children? Thank you for everything and all of your stories that i have read have truly inspired me into going into this field when i graduate! I can't wait to join such a loving community

What's your secret czyja? I'll be 39 in a couple months and having trouble getting any dates since my ex broke up with me a little over a year ago. I'm in excellent shape as I work out consistently and above average looking I think. I've been thinning for about 10 years and now I'm "very" thin on top with some gray starting on the sides. If it was'nt for that I would look like I was in my early 30's. As it is I can't even get many contacts on the internet. Part of the problem may be I'm not a big talker, but I can at least approach women now, but don't alway say the right things. I used to be painfully shy when I did have a lot of hair 15 years ago and never had any dates then. btw, I tried shaving it several years ago, but its a hassle as I hate to shave my face more than every other day and I have an odd shaped head when no hair is on it, but then again, its getting to the point you can see most of it now anyways except the back and sides.

Hmmm. Is there a woman on your unit you can trust? I would ask her for an honest opinion.

As far as? Not really, I mean I talk to the nurses, but I think physically I'm ok, I think I may need to work on my confidence. One of the older nurses did try to set me up. I called the lady and it went well, but found out she met someone else about the same time. I did have a date with another girl I met online. It went ok, she was a bit overweight and had small kids. It took me awhile to decide to call her back and now guess what? She invited me over to her house for dinner, but says she has to be honest and just thinks of me as a friend right now. I'm not sure if I should go or not. I mean I guess we all start out as friends, but its just weird she would tell me that I think, I don't know. My sis thinks I'm a good catch and not put my standards low and should pass on her, have'nt decided, but should let her know in the next day or two...

You're worried about losing hair? Don't worry kid...what you lose on top of your head will gradually begin to grow elsewhere. Like your ears...your nose...your back.

If you're serious about being interested in nursing for a potential career, cool. Stick around...you'll get some good advice here.

As far as the hair... I keep it buzzed anyway...

As for the Peds, I work in Family practice where we have Peds And FP Docs here. The parents don't treat me any different than the female nurses. In fact I think some of the kids remember me easier, as I'm more distinguisable(?) from the many females they see.
