The Guys Club: Guy Students Come on In!

Hi All!

I'm a crazy father of 2 ex-premed who just recently turned down Northwestern to go into a RN program.

I already have an Associate in Science, but I'll be getting another ADN and then go to a 4 yr school.

When I went to an info session about the RN program ill be trying to get into, out of like 70 ppl only 5 were guys.

So I want to know are there any men out there?

Hello, Iam a 41yo dad second career,graduating in may from ADN program. Theres about 7 guys out of 70 students, the ladies have been GREAT could not have gone this far without them.

Great friends I will always remember.

I'm a male 44 year old transfering from software development to the nursing profession. I will begin my studies this next semester (Jan). It's been 20yrs or so since I took general education courses, I hope I won't need to repeat them!

I'm a tech / web developer right now.

I'm a EE by degree and reluctantly went down the S/W path about 15 years ago. Until recently I was able to find many R&D jobs (embedded DSP processors) which were the only way to keep me interested in S/W. There isn't much interesting work now, as I found myself reluctantly doing more and more Linux and Windows applications.

Talking about major career moves - I work in IT now and am on the heels of a huge jump into the "ominous marshmallow uniform" of a student nurse.

I'm still not up on some of the abbreviations and such, but I am starting an ASN program in about 3 weeks.

I was talking to a CC department head about prereqs and he said in the last month he spoke to 3 engineers/software developers that were going into nursing. He said there must be something going on here! :eek:

For me its two things:

1. I want to do something more meaningful.

2. I want to do something with potential to grow and technical(mental) in nature.
