The agony of waiting for "the" letter

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am literally driving myself insane waiting for my acceptance letter! The deadline is April 2nd, so I will be biting my fingernails for quite some time. What to do to pass the time??!! I've taken all of the courses, non nursing, required to complete the degree. I feel confident that I will get accepted, but there is always the possibility of not getting accepted. I know that slots are limited due to the shortage of professors, and lack of funding. The approximate number of applicant rejections, yearly, in Texas is over 4,200.

I have no plan B if I don't get accepted. I would have to wait an entire year to re-apply. My other option is to complete 4 prereq's at a different school and apply next spring for fall of 08. I would prefer not to go that route.

What do you do to pass the time? Are any of you currently employed in a health care facility? What type of work could I apply myself for without a degree??

Thanks:uhoh3:

And my question is:

Will the letter be thick or thin?

LMBO! I've been thinking about that all day! Think thick!

Nothing from the school in the mailbox today... another day down... Application deadline was November 1st, so I'm more than ready for this part of the journey to be over!!!

Phew, can sympathize with you on the stress of waiting. I got my letter not too long ago and was accepted. Its stressful thinking all your hard work building up to just a letter that says welcome to the nursing program or thank you for trying. I took my letter personally by the office and dropped it off. I was so nervous I wanted to make sure it got into the right hands just for safety. I know how schools can be. I have had them "lose" something I faxed or mailed to them before. Well i was trying to be supportive but guess i may just given you another something to stress about. Sorry :-) . It'll come. Just hang in there!

I'm waiting too! Application deadline was Jan. 15th, but I turned in my application back in October. NET test taken, interview over with, now it's just waiting waiting waiting! I finished all possible courses I can take aside from the actual nursing courses last semester so I have nothing to occupy my mind either. I applied to 2 schools, one BSN one ADN. I have all the classes for the BSN already so I would prefer to do that, but I have to get in first! And I don't even know how heavily they weigh things. I know they look at GPA, NET, and do an interview so I have no clue if I even have a chance! This is agonizing at best. My only other options are to try again next year, but an entire year of no school?! That's torture, this semester is torture enough! So I just sit and wait and give myself ulcers in the meantime!

Specializes in Med/Surg, LTC/Geriatric.

The school I applied to has a pre req deadline of this Wednesday. All my pre req grades are into them and I should have "my letter" by mid to end of March!!

I will be going to my mail box with jittery nerves every day until it comes!!!!!!

Hey! I'm from SC too. Did you apply to MUSC in Charleston? I did and am on the same timeline as far as waiting for a letter.

Hey, I applied to Orangeburg Calhoun Tech. I hope everything goes well for you. I'm from the Columbia area. Are you in the Charleston area?
