Published

Hey everyone, i will like you all to please keep me in prayers. i will be taking NCLEX RN for the 5th time on June 24th; I truly believe am going to pass; am so calm about this test and not afraid. After using so many resources i decided to just focus on a 97 pg review. Thanks in advance

Can someone tell me a little about this 97 page study guide? What is it? Where can I get it? How much is it? I too am a repeat test taker and at this point I will try anything new! Thanks in advance

Thank you so much; God knows I really need this. Its been a little over 2 years since graduation. I have a long history but to make it short, I started off with just Kaplan(utilizing everything on the program) which was free for me by the school; had a yr worth of access to it. 1st time taking it, i didn't know what i was doing so I failed at 75 and i wasn't mad. Second time taking it I failed by one question at 265. i used Kaplan, and la charity and exam cram. Took a little break; got pregnant and tested the 3rd time in mid pregnancy and failed at 75 by using NCSBN, little bit of Saunders and Hurst. The 4th time I was for sure I was going to pass as my church helped pray for me and my pastor called me that morning praying for me on the phone right before testing but unfortunate i failed at 126 and i used NCSBN, Hurst and more Saunders questions and skimmed through 35pg that was floating around. 3 months later I moved to a different state with my family. Its been 6 months now but while studying all these times, I realize that am studying to memorize instead of understanding and I tend to catch myself not answering what exactly the question is asking and sometimes I struggle with the topic of the question. I am very weak on Pharm and still am. For me I realize I needed to build up on my content and figuring out how to pick the best option. For some reason when it comes down to two options, I almost always pick the wrong one.

Did you look at your below passing before taking another test?

What was your reasoning for "skimming" through most if your sources?

Do you have issues regarding test anxiety, ESL or any learning issues?

I ask this because once you deal with the TRUE root cause that is preventing you from passing the exam, then you will successfully pass the exam.

The issue may not necessarily the source of the review, but how one approaches the NCLEX itself: understanding the four concepts of becoming a competent, entry-level nurse:

1. Safe, effective care;

2.Health promotion;

3.Physiological Integrity;

4.Psychosocial integrity

Will determine WHAT the question is asking you; the question may be Respiratory related-but is it a Health Promotion or a Safety, or a Physiological or a Psychosocial one? Would you know the difference and choose the BEST answer?

Once one understands the concepts of NCLEX, they can do so successfully.

If you have issues with Pharm, I used PharmPhlash cards to study Pharm, and went on with answering questions, reading rationales; if I

didn't understand the rationales, I

went back to sources to gain better understanding.

To add:

NCSBN was set up for that format to source the rationales;

Kaplan has strategies in determining the best answers;

Saunders has questions broken down with the four major aspects in becoming a entry-level beginner nurse.

Please ensure you understand the WHY in choosing the best answer; once you understand the WHY, the more successful the exam, and the more probability in passing the exam.

Best wishes.

the 97pg is great cause it has the information you need to pass the test; even if you fell below the line and your given basic question, you will still be able to answer it cause of that review and computer will boost you back up and continue to give you questions.and let me tell you, i was getting 4-5 basic questions in a row and computer never shut off. i just wish i never ran out of time but its OK am just going to practice how to figure out the right/best answer and still review 97pg. there's no reason for me to wait longer than 45 days cause I've seen the contents and i know it; i am so close to conquering this test. I will PASS THIS TEST; the questions weren't even difficult; its my nerves at times or not really paying attention to the question

Like I said in my post; as long as a test taker understands WHAT the question is asking and WHY-the rationale; it doesn't matter what source; you passed nursing school, so content shouldn't be an issue; everyone has areas that they need to take care of; I was outline what each of the sources have and their objectives; people can say what works and what doesn't, but once test takers understand the four concepts of NCLEX and have good tests taking skills, it doesn't matter the source, one will be able to answer the question successfully.

Ladyfree28; I agree with you. but for me, the times i took it in the past, i was lacking content and didnt know my stuff; Saunders is great book but who in their right mind would read that whole book and that's where the 97pg comes in place but most importantly one has to know how to tackle and answer nclex questions and thats my weakness
