texting and facebook interference while studying for nclex

Published

My daughter plans to take her exam for the second time in March. She wants to succeed in passing the nclex, she is sincere, and she means well.... but I don't think she realizes how much texting and facebook brings unneccessary interruptions by breaking her concentration while studying. I haven't seen this problem addressed on here...and I know some of you will say that she must not be committed to doing all that is necessary to passing...but she is, I know that she is. She reads all nurses on a daily basis, and if any of you can offer advice it would be greatly appreciated. She just needs to turn the cell phone and computer off...right? :uhoh3: UGH!

You might want to drop a hint to her that you won't fund another attempt if you consistently see her breaking her concentration. I know it might sound a little harsh and that you are interfering too much, but she probably does not realize how she is hurting her efforts and that you really mean well by reminding her. Only mention it once. She is old enough to take responsibility for her future.

She cannot have Mommy holding her hand forever. You can tell her whatever you want, but this needs to be something she has enough maturity and common sense to realize on her own. No one held my hand through nursing school and no one held my hand through the NCLEX. She's going to have to learn the hard way...and that's not to say I'm not an IM/Facebook junkie myself.
