Text Messaging During Lecture

Published

It flips me out to see students pull out their cell phones during lecture and start texting. These are usually the same students that barely get by and complain about questions on an exam. I have seen some pull out their cell phones and head toward the bathroom during clinical. Not trying to rant about it, but it drives me crazy. :angryfire

I think it is simply disrespectful. In my previous job, I was a trainer, and if someone was talking/texting while I was trying to teach, I would simply wait and ask if they were ready to proceed. It's very frustrating to try to teach someone whose nonverbals say "I'm not listening to you one bit."

One of my professors will actually ask people to leave if she sees them texting, and I'm glad.
