Hey there!
I just finished my application into the Texas Wesleyan CRNA program. I chose the Denver sites as my top two.
Anybody else applying to the Denver site?
Anybody else applying to any other site?
I am hoping we can keep in touch on here, see how everybody is doing, and offer encouragement to each other.
Good luck everybody!!
May I ask how competitive you would need to be and if you know how competitive Colton is this year w applicants?
To my understanding, an applicant has to meet the minimum requirements to get an invitation for interview and the rest will be dependent on the flow of the interview. In my case, my stats were not impressive at all but I felt my interview wasn't that bad. Here are my stats:
1 1/2 yr MICU, 4 years total RN exp
CCRN, PCCN, Chemo Certified
GPA 3.23
GRE 295, 3.0 Writing
16 hours CRNA shadowing
Biochem (Took the class recently)
College Algebra (Still in progress during my interview)
I remembered the Clinical Head at Colton saying that they might accept 10-12 students but since I'm the first person they interviewed that day, I don't have an idea how competitive it is this year, or at least at Colton site but there were 15 applicants invited on our interview last Nov 1 & 2.
I also asked if there's a competition of cases among other CRNA's schools or residents that has their clinical rotation at Colton (e.g. Loma linda, USC, NU). They reassured me that from the beginning, the make sure that they will only accept and assign enough students on a clinical site to prevent any sort of competition with case completion. But if there will be unforeseeable situations to arise, they might send the SRNA to other clinical site (e.g. rural site/hospital close by) to complete the cases. But again, they said that it hasn't happen yet.
I actually got offered to have my clinicals at Jonesboro but I got interviewed at Colton. I just chose Colton site randomly since I live in San Diego and I heard that they do early interviews. I honestly don't have any clinical site preference so I guess that made an impact on their acceptance to me (despite my not so impressive stats). During the interview, I have been asked multiple times if I'm willing to take my clinicals in another state and I just cheerfully said yes since all I am focused was to just got into a CRNA program and the rest will follow. Anyways, hope that helps!
Wow! I am excited for everyone who has already interviewed or has an interview scheduled. I am currently waiting for mine. I chose Mobile, Al, Shreveport, and a Texas site. So I don't know if we will get our clinical site assignments just yet. I was told by a former student that clinical sites are assigned on competitive basis and are usually given towards the end of the 1st year. I have a feeling my interview will be great and I look forward to meeting everyone at orientation.
