Members are discussing various aspects of the Texas Tech University ABSN program, including experiences at different campuses, costs of books and resources, dress code for specific events, drug screening procedures, and the workload intensity of the program. There are also questions about application requirements, acceptance odds based on GPA and experience, and personal experiences with the program.
Hi there! Just wanted to start a forum for those applying to the Texas Tech University ABSN 2025 program! Have you guys sent out your application? 🙂

Being on campus varied week to week. First semester we were there a ton. The last 2 semesters we were there a lot for sim lab, exams, post conferences, OSCEs. You will definitely be there a lot.
Hi! I got accepted into the Dallas campus, would you be comfortable sharing an estimate of how much the books/online resources were? Thanks 🙂

Thank you,
Hi! I will be commuting to Abilene from Dallas. I own a home and have daughters, so I can't move. This will be a second career/degree for me, so I will be flexible and do what I need to do to succeed in this program. I was hoping for Dallas but.....

As far as the CNA course, I sent an email since I had a CNA cert. from about 10 years ago and was trying to avoid paying the whole thing. I was told I'd have to complete the full 100 hours. I took the first 60 online and will do the remaining 40 hours hands-on. I'm still looking to see where to finish off the course (the cheapest option), so if anyone has recommendations in Lubbock please lmk. However, they said I wouldn't have to take the state test. So as long as you complete the course, but I'd still ask to make sure.
Hope this helps!!
They made you retake? I just had a call with an advisor and they said that all you need is the CNA certificate if you have one. I was planning on just getting certified in florida and submitting my CNA cert with my application. Did you attatch your cert to your initial application and get a flagged for it?

I just did the hours. No state test - so as long as you have the course hours (100hrs) you should be fine. If you want to be fully certified, then take the state test and that'll work too. I didn't submit with my application - I provided the proof once I was accepted (you get a checklist of things to complete prior to the start of the semester, and that's where I submitted my proof). Hope that helps!

Is there a way to direct message you? I am new to using the all nurses site but I am starting the ABSN in Dallas this Spring. I wanted to ask about your plans for NP school too if you had time.
