Texas Tech Traditional BSN Fall 2015

Published

HELLO EVERYONE!

Is anyone applying to TTU Traditional BSN nursing program Fall of 2015?? I thought this would be a great place we could all come together and ask questions, answer questions, encourage each other, and stay up to date!!

Here are some questions to get going:

What campus are you applying to?

How many campuses can we apply to?

If you are applying for Fall 2015 have you completed all 57 credit hours?

Cumulative and science GPA? (If too personal, don't answer) :)

How many volunteer hours will you have?

Does anyone know about how many apply vs. get accepted?

Any tips, advice, or information you want to share with us scared future nurses?!

When is everyone scheduled to take the TEAS?

If you've taken the TEAS already, what did you think?!

**I want this to be a positive, helpful and encouraging thread for everyone!!**

I hope this thread will get something started!

So we have to wait one more entire week to know if we got into Lubbocks campus?!

Finally done with my interview at UTMB! was told I have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to hear back from them!

@ttu1995...that's what she said! I'm becoming hopeless! ELyse545 has an amazing stats(3.8 gpa and 86 teas) but didn't get spot in Lubbock! Can you tell me your stats if you don't mind? I already posted mine!

Yeah I'm happy I got in it just sucks to know I wasn't good enough to get into Lubbock. I'm going to go because I didn't apply to any other schools.

Were you already a Tx Tech student? Or coming from somewhere else?

They told me that too last year but I found out a week after my interview and I was in the first wave. I chose Tech over UTMB.

How come u wasn't good enough to get into Lubbock with that Impressive stats(Gpa 3.8 and teas 86)? This means all 75 applicants who got spot in Lubbock have a gpa between 3.9-4.0 and teas v between 86-100 which is impossible! If this is true, I won't have any chance of getting accepted cuz my stats are 3.912 gpa and 82 teas v! I called and talked to the lady and she said they will send out the email next week! Anyways big congrats! Whether u get into Abeliene or Lubbock, you're gonna have TTUHSC SON on your resume!

I didn't have any healthcare experience however I had community service and leadership positions, but I guess maybe someone with more experience got in over me.

I am currently a Texas Tech student.

I didn't have any healthcare experience besides my CNA certification and I wasnt a Texas tech student. I'm just thankful I got in somewhere.

Its only 18 month program so it's not the end of the world. Elyse have you started looking at places to live?

Ashunda45: overall I have a 3.5 but that includes a lot of dual credit I took in high school. I'm a current texas tech student and my current gpa here at Tech is a 4.0. I have A's in both anatomys and in microbiology. I spent all summer volunteering in a hospital, I shadowed a little here at Covenant, I'm involved in techs pre nursing association, TNSA, and I have a lot of community service especially through my sorority. I got a 78 on the TEAS but I took it before I even took anatomy II and microbiology so I was going to retake it for a higher score but the admissions/advisor said not too. I felt like my interview went really good, it lasted about twenty minutes so I felt good about it being pretty long. I don't think they look at people who only have extremely high gpa's, they look at everything instead of one factor. So with your stats I don't think you should worry!

I've looked a little bit but haven't really spent much time looking yet.

So it doesn't take too long, right? 4 to 6 weeks is too long! Can you please tell me why my interview was very short? She didn't ask me those common questions like: why do you wanna be a nurse? How do you handle stress? Why did you choose this program! None of them! She was impressed by my personal statement and asked me some questions related to it! In my personal statement, I mentioned that I have a very busy schedule: full time school and job, and I also stated that I volunteer at hospital and local church on weekends!

She said, "do you wanna still work after getting accepted?" and I said if it

coordinates well with my schedule I may work 15 to 20 hrs but if it conflicts with my schedule I don't wanna work at all! She also asked me

if want to apply for financial aid and I

said yes! I also told her my dad is a nurse and I did not mention that in my

p.statement and she wrote down on

the piece of paper, she said "that is

awesome!"...at the end she said

something that boosted my hope: she

said, "nursing needs people who are

passionate and have respect for their

profession and you p. Statement tells me that!"
