Hey y'all, I got accepted into Texas Tech RN- BSN for January 2014 and was wanting to start a thread for us to stay in contact and also, if anyone has any advice on things to anticipate.
I will thankfully be out of New Grad Orientation and on my own by then :)
Hope to find out what to expect!
Thanks Rebecca

I'll be in TTU's RN-BSN spring 2014 too! Rebecca, from what I can tell the orientation is completely online. I think you find your own preceptor for the clinical assignments - most people do them at work which is a pretty sweet deal. I think the only time you'd need to go out to Lubbock is if you want to be at graduation. I live in Dallas so I plan on celebrating with a steak dinner close to home myself!
Oh and yes it looks like just 9 hours at a time :) can't wait to start!

Hi y'all and welcome to Texas Tech! Am alumni BSN currently in MSN program. The instructors are very helpful the course work is in 2 semesters. ..18hrs then 12hrs.... sounds like a whole lot but you will be fine! ask me questions if you have any :-)
Hi eCCU ! Thanks for the welcome ! I had a few questions :
1) any preceptor needed/ clinical hours ? Or just online / books / forums?
2) so, we will " graduate" in May even when we still have a couple of months to go ?
3) any tips on picking getting into NP program ? I am interested in NNP or Peds :)
Thanks again , much luck in your studies !

Hi rncutegirl! No major clinicals in the program. However, they do have a few interviews with leadership, social work or case management and legal in health care. Otherwise online and forum. All these are in form of research they are big on research and evidence based nursing.
Spring applicants graduation is 2nd week of aug. Thats because you will be done with everything in may.
Ok lastly, they have one of the most competitive grad schools in Texas tougher than UT! Work on credentials like certification in your specialty, write an article, diversify your CV as much as you can...remember they receive over 600 applications but being a student there is a plus ;-)
I believe you will do great! Let me know of any questions :-)
Oh and first semester can get hectic cause it is 18hrs...dont fret just make arrangements at work and get assignments and exams done early. ...
So being that we start in Spring we would attended the may graduation? There wont be one for when we completely finish in Aug?
Commencement dates are held 3times/yr....May, Aug and Dec.
