Hi all! I am applying to Texas Tech's fall 2015 program. I filled out the application, and sent off my transcripts today!! I was hoping some of you could answer a few questions for me!
Did any of you apply before actually graduating nursing school? I graduate this May.
What did your GPA look like? I have around a 3.3 (not sure if this will hurt or help me)
I couldn't find any info on how many students they actually accept a semester vs. how many apply, so I'm not sure if this program is really competitive. Just trying to get an idea of how hard it is to actually get into this school.
Any info from anyone would be great!!
Is anyone else out there applying for this Fall??

I have applied to this program as well for fall 2015 start. My GPA was not that great however I have been a nurse for some time. I hope that carries some weight.
I'm sure it will! Good luck to us both! I am excited, and hope we get in!
Yes hopefully we are both future Red Raiders!!! We won't know anything until March or April!! Are you going to opt for the sixth month route?
I am not sure yet. I am going to wait to see if I get in first and then decide.Hopefully I will pass my NCLEX and get a job ASAP, so all of that will determine if I do the 2 or 3 semesters. Did you have any trouble with the school receiving your transcripts? My page hasn't been updated yet saying they have received mine. Did you turn in any letters of recommendation or anything like that?

If it helps determining your track, I finished last December with a 3.9 gpa while working upward of 70 hours and I have kids at home. I started the 27th of May and finished before the first week of December. Completely doable if you stay focused. Best of luck.
My transcripts were updated farely quickly, less than two weeks time. The electronicly sent ones did update within a matter of days. I didn't turn in any letter of recommendations; I didn't see that they were required? Did you?
I mailed mine off last week, and they haven't been received yet. Hoping they didn't get lost in the mail or anything. I did not submit any letters of recommendations either, but I did see on their website, under the admissions requirement tab, that they took work experience, extracurricular activities and things like that into consideration.
WOW! That defiantly gives me hope then! I would love to finish it as soon as possible, so I will keep that in mind when deciding!

KR_RN I am very interested in doing the 6 month route. I also have a kid and hope to be working as soon as I graduate (God Willing with how the job market is). How did you feel the work load is? How are the classes split up? Any advice you can share would be so helpful!
The classes last 5 weeks and are two at a time. You have anywhere from just a couple days to several days between them. The work load isnt terrible and involves a lot of discussion postings as well as papers. I felt like the assignments were easy, but a bit time consuming. You can count on something being due every week. Also, be aware that there are a lot of group projects. For the elective I did Global Health and it was by far my favorite course of the program.
Do you happen to know how competitive it was to be accepted into the program? How many applied vs. how many were accepted into your class?
